This caused the darts to get stuck inside or to barely come out of the gun.

It shoots out the Nerf darts by pushing them through two spinning wheels much like how an automatic football or tennis ball thrower works.

Now, my kids use the Tommy blaster as a prop in imaginary battles, but when it comes to nerf fights, they go with their nerf guns.

The Auto Tommy 20 is the fully automatic version of the Mech Tommy 20.

I was at first curious as to how this gun worked because I couldn't see how 3 AA batteries could build up that much air pressure in such a short time, but I've found that this gun doesn't use air pressure at all. It shoots out the Nerf darts by pushing them through two spinning wheels much like how an automatic football or tennis ball thrower works.

Here are my comments on the most important criteria of a Nerf gun:

1) Power: Quite powerful, more power than your regular spring powered piston pushing Nerf gun and as powerful as some of the hand pumped air pressure Nerf guns.
Grade: Very good.

2) Speed: As advertised, this gun can pump out shots quickly and plaster your opponent with bullets before he can hand pump out 2 or 3. This is really an automatic machine gun when you keep your finger on the trigger. But they are not as fast as a air pump gun with a pressure reservoir.
Grade: Good.

3) Accuracy: Surprisingly accurate, except when it shoots crooked darts, so just make sure all your darts are straight. And sometimes the spinning wheels don't catch the dart right and spits them out all wobbly.
Grade: Very good.

Additional comments: The trigger is also the on switch for the spinning wheels. When you pull the trigger it spits a dart into the wheels and the wheels shoot the dart out. The only problem is that it takes a second or so for the spinning wheels get up to speed so the first dart often doesn't have a lot of power. The way to get around that is to only squeeze the trigger just enough to start the wheels spinning, then pull the trigger all the way to spit the dart into the wheels.

The Auto Tommy 20 is awesome. It has a decent range, rapid fire, and holds 20 darts. Some other reviews stated that it jammed but it doesn't. To me it is better than the Hasbro Nerf Vulcan EBF-25. Extra darts are easy to find. Target is the best place to find it. If you're looking for a good nerf war gun, get this.

The automatic Tommy 20 *is* fully automatic as promised, and does have a 20 dart magazine. It is notably smaller and lighter than other automatic Nerf/Buzzbee weapons.
Pros:
Compact
Decent-sized magazine
High Rate-of-Fire
Actually vaguely inspired by real weaponry (thus some educational value, I guess...)
No annoying having to turn the weapon off to reload--there *is* no off

Cons:
Loud, even when not firing (the fly wheels spin as long as the trigger is depressed)
Slow reload
INEXCUSABLY HORRIBLE jamming

To elaborate:
This gun has lots of nice features, and based on what I've seen on the internets, it works perfectly for some people. However, many people complain about its jamming. I have to say that has been my experience. This gun will jam. I don't mean every once and a while--I got one misfire that resulted in a jam about every 6 shots. The piston that is supposed to punch the darts out into the fly wheel may not be going fast enough to keep up with the rotation of the magazine.
Even when darts don't get stuck between the wheels, there are constant jams. The awkward orange nose cone thing traps any dart coming out at an angle, filling up the nose with more and more darts that get stuck behind any dart that does not escape. This means even if one dart comes out funny, all the rest will jam. For those of you that own the Vulcan, this is comparable (though much worse) to the jams in that gun.
Even if your poor dart makes it past the fly wheel, nose cone, and other darts in the way, it will (about 2/3 of the time) glance off the nose and flop to the ground to your right. I kid you not; most of the time your darts will not go remotely where you are aiming.

I received this for my birthday from my brother and his family. I have never had a problem with it jamming, it shoots accurately, and the darts travel the whole way across my house. Great value!

I recently went and took advantage of the walmart return policies to try out a lot of guns. This cheaper "knockoff" Tommygun is a winner. Its not a nerf tag gun so you will have to modify your darts to play nerf tag. 1 way is to cut about 1.25 of an inch off of stardard nerf velcro darts (this will upset your friends who use regular darts). Another option is to just glue some hook and loop circles to the guns current suction cups. the buzzbee toys darts are MUCH CHEAPER THAN NERF ONES. I tried many nerf guns and the tommy of the best guns to have. BEATS NERF!

The only gun nerf has that can capare to this is the cr35 and vulcan cannon (twice the cost). I tried the CR35 but was not impressed. It was awesome to have 35 shots and the rate of fire is totally there, but the power AND ACCURACY is not. Its cool to lay 25 rounds of suppressing fire with a cr35 (knowing you have 10 more in reserve), but it is not accurate this way. The darts are also so small that it just doesn't effect your opponents psyche as much. If the enemy isn't afraid to get one in the face it takes the fun out of it for me. the cr35 and other nerf clip guns take these weak sauce style light darts that don't fly straight.

TOMMY rocks. You will need to gently depress the trigger for a spit second to warm up the rollers by getting them up to speed. This is not a sneaky gun but the sound it makes announces the hell that is going to be unleashed. The darts fly out VERY fast. If one is coming at your face you panic, unlike these wimpy clip darts. the electric roller dart throwing method is Must faster than standard nerf plunger style. (The only thing that beats it is the prepumped magstrike AS-10) You can fire the gun in short 1-3 round bursts with a little practice. The combination of range and power is awesome.
