Product Description

Product Description

WordPress for Android is an Open Source app that empowers you to write new posts to your WordPress blog, edit content, and manage your comments directly from your Android device. WordPress is a well-known online Content Management System (CMS) that is commonly used as a blog publishing application.

Manage multiple WordPress sites and blogs or create a new blog from the app. When you launch the WordPress app you are shown a list of new sites and blogs, allowing quick access to the site or blog of your choice. Browse all the latest posts on blogs you follow. You may also delete a blog or change basic settings, including account details, media placement, and location information, right from your Android device.

The WordPress app allows you to set up notifications. Decide how often you wish the app to refresh and then choose whether your device notifies you by playing a sound, vibrating, or flashing a notification light.

Read, write, and manage blog posts

Comments

Approve, unapprove, and delete comments or mark them as spam. The comments view also shows you which post was commented on and the commenter's information, such as e-mail address or website.

Posts

Add new posts or choose an existing post to view, edit, or delete. Review comments specific to that post. Media, tags, and categories can be added to each post. You may also choose whether to upload your post immediately or save it as a draft.

Pages

The WordPress app allows you to create new pages on your site. Additionally, you can view, edit, or delete a page or view comments associated with a specific page.

Stats

Access statistics about the number of site and post views, referrers, search terms, and clicks. You have the option to view these statistics for multiple time frames: from the last seven days up to the full life of your site or blog.

WordPress for Android supports both WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress (2.9.2 or higher) blogs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved my Bacon, itellya... March 4, 2012

I'm not gonna get into a long description of what a dumbass I was, but suffice it to say, when I needed it most, the WordPress app for the Amazon Kindle Fire and other Android devices saved me of even more humiliation than I would normally encounter after posting a blog story, realizing an egregious typo or two...or three, and then finding myself without access to my home computer or laptop with which to edit them.

Such a circumstance happened to me recently, when someone emailed to "inform me" of how badly I'd screwed up. I was on a weekend trip to another city and only had access to my Kindle Fire (actually, I HAD brought my laptop with me, but as luck would have it, its power supply went bad en route and took the battery with it). When I received the email on my Kindle (which I'm learning to love more each day), my laptop was toast and I thought I was too, as we wouldn't be returning home for another more two days.

Luckily, I realized that I'd recently downloaded the WordPress app, but hadn't yet had any reason to use it. I quickly corrected the typos (and let's just say, they weren't punctuation or common-word based errors, either). So at least I was able to save *part* of my face (and the jury's still out on whether or not that's actually a good thing...); all thanks to my Kindle Fire and the WordPress app, available for free from the Amazon AppStore.

It's easy to use, and when ya need it. well, ya really need it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wordpress review April 12, 2011

Decent app if you want to quickly update a "short" blog post. Otherwise it's too cumbersome to bang out a long post on a cell phone. I didn't really have any trouble uploading my blog post so all in all a decent app.

If you write a blog the Kindle App is okay in a pinch but stick to using your laptop because typing, at least on the original Kindle Fire, is cumbersome.

I believe it's the only blog editor for Android (correct me), so like it or not, we're pretty stuck, no? As an app, it does what it's supposed to do - 60% of the time. Read more
