Editorial Reviews

Review
'As with the first edition, material coverage is extensive and the current text also describes many recent innovations...In fact, the density of information contained within the text is, quite simply, phenomenal...The book contains a large number of very clear figures...there is an exhaustive glossary of symbols and a bibliography...this is a well presented, concise and comprehensive book..produced to a high standard.' IMechE proceedings Part D --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Product Description
Taken from the German series "Fahrwerktechnik", this book acts as an introduction to all the major vehicle mechanical systems except for the engine and gearbox. The approach is to point out the main mechanical principles and considerations involved in each system, giving mathematical analysis only where necessary. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars you must have it if you design cars, March 24, 2007
I found it very useful.
it covers quite all the parts related to suspensions and their function.

when theory is explained, it's made rigorously, but always to give you a formula you'll apply pratically: no "tensors" here.
there are a couple of tables and data that helped me much (what toe-in should I use in a street car?)
there are also pictures that helped me to explore new ideas (the pictures are about road cars, and I found them here, not in the web or on other sources).

in the end: if your job is to design road cars (or parts of road cars), I think that soon or later you'll put this book off the shelf and find it very useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Engineering from the Germans!, July 8, 2007
I am amazed by the depth this book goes into! But what can I say, it was originally written by the Germans, masters of anything engineering. The translation seems good, however, there are some minor errors here and there regarding proper wording. The diagrams are all very detailed and very easy to read. The authors went to great lengths to get their point across. I do however have to purchase a few books on basic engineering pricipals seeing as this text is a bit more advanced than my education! Beware, if you do not know what "elastokinematic" means, than you may want to brush up on basic mechanical engineering pricipals like I have to do.

3.0 out of 5 stars For professionals only, February 5, 2009
The book has loads of detail and information. However, those looking to learn the fundamentals of chassis engineering are much better off looking elsewhere.
