I use this book almost daily,it gives very good information to testing components and how to retrieve trouble codes for vehicles,although the code definitions are only the meanings of the codes,it supplies you with enough info to be able to know what to start looking at,and there are places on the web to get more help once you have the codes,so for as inexpensive as the book is,it should be in every do it yourselfers toolbox.

I was ordering a obdii scanner and this book came up as a suggestion. I thought, cool... this might be helpful. Wrong. While the book may be a good book, I am giving it the rank I am because neither the amazon description nor the depicted book cover states that this book is only good for 1981-1995 vehicles, pre-obdii. My oldest is a 1998. I saw nothing at the time of order or at the time of this review that stated that, though the cover on the book that I received clearly states it's only for pre-obdii era vehicles. Shame on me for not doing exhaustive research for a little book, but shame on amazon for a lousy description. I have since purchased OBD-II & ELECTRONIC ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS TECHBOOK (Haynes Techbook) instead.

Once I received this book it appeared to be a good book, so I gave it to a co-worker rather than returning it.

This book gives you the most bang for the buck. More complete information than many of the more expensive books. Easy to read and comprehend. Well organized for the weekend mechanic or professional.

The book has too much info on the history of OBD, who cares. It needs more troubleshooting help. Like decision maps. It has some vehicle specific info, but again not enough. It is somewhat helpful for the beginer to OBD.

Along with the reader I bought, it has allready paid for itself. If I had gone to Dealer, I would have had a Bill over $100.00

This book is really an encyclopedia of computer codes, and as such gives a cursory overview of apparatus and their problems. Is a bit long and wordy if you're trying to get to a specific problem on a specific vehicle. Might be helpful to those wanting a general overview.

This book said it covered to codes for our car but it did not have the correct code #s. I "assume" that it has the older code #s. We have a 2002 Toyota.

i bought this item because i wasn't sure if a code book came with the computer reader. I ended up returning this book because it did. This book will only be useful if you intend to work on your car yourself.

A little hard to read the display with the blue backlite and the dim screen, but is full of the latest technology and easy to clear codes. .A ,amachine like this used to cost 2000 to 3000 dollars, so this one os a real bargain.
