The Best of It's Kind, February 20, 2002
[The Resurrection of a Great Out-of-Print Classic]:
When this remarkable publication first appeared in March 1987, it was hailed as an automotive reference book like no other.
Many important book reviewers (major USA car manufacturer VPs, auto journalists, editors, librarians, car owners, truck drivers, etc.) quickly got in line to express their positive opinions about its value. In short order, thousands of USA and Canadian libraries adopted this book. The 8.5x11 format and 470 text-only pages (in small type), was not fancy. But, it contained an immense amount of carefully-uniquely organized automotive knowledge - found no where else.
The closest books today,
are half the size,
less half the number of pages,
and don't even begin to cover the subject like this timeless classic does.
It is truly one-of-a-kind.
[Interesting Side Note]:
In the late 1980s,
China's copyright agency expressed interest
in buying the reprint rights to the book.
Those rights were not granted.
[Book Availability]:
Print copies of the book are not currently available.
However, a special collector's edition has been created.

RESEARCH MANUAL, December 13, 1999
This review is from: Automotive Reference: A New Approach to the World of Auto/Related Information, 1987 (Hardcover)
I BOUGHT HIS BOOK AND THINK IT WAS WELL WORTH THE MONEY. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT REFERENCE. I DOUBT ANY OTHER REFERENCE HAS AS MUCH DATA. HOWEVER, IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS CREATED ON A TYPEWRITER. THE OVERALL READABILITY IS BELOW AVERAGE. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE AN E-MAIL COPY OF THE BOOK TO CHANGE THE TYPE STYLE, TPYE SIZE, SPACING ETC.
