5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read, October 7, 2007
This review is from: Autumn Corridors (Hardcover)
Really loved the book. I lost someone recently and this book really helped me through a tough stretch. I would recomend it to anyone dealing with loss or trying to help someone else deal with the loss of a loved one. This book should become a classic in the death, grief and bereavment segment.

5.0 out of 5 stars More about life . . ., September 30, 2007
This review is from: Autumn Corridors (Hardcover)
Seasons of life and accompanying transitions serve as the backdrop upon which guidance is provided. Set in midwestern American, Straub outlines his life's milestones in relation to significant death losses. From these experiences, he reflects upon lessons learned. The result is innovative ideas on preparation for one's own death, such as writing a personal eulogy and creating a "life room - a room where death is not feared or ignored (p. 130)". An appropriate application for Straub's work would be as a springboard for discussion in adult Sunday School groups, when taken a chapter or two at a time. Although the writing hints of viewing life events through the lens of Christianity, Straub's perspective posits non-traditional insights into such topics as marriage, divorce, stepfamilies, and existential questions. In actuality, Straub's book is more about lessons learned in life . . . . than it is about death.

5.0 out of 5 stars I read this and learned lessons of death in a good life., April 23, 2007
This review is from: Autumn Corridors (Hardcover)
I read this book and I really liked the whole read. It was just long enough to cover the subject but, short enough to enjoy a great story and meaningful advice.

Larry seems to catch the essence of his life's experience in his Kansas, mid-west journey. I enjoyed the personable story that drew you into the first page and then resolved the "autobiographical" experiences of the author in the last lines of the book.

His practical approach of preparing for all of the "seasons" of life was overwhelmingly simple. There is a "checklist" of how to be successful in each season while preparing you for the special "Autumn Corridors."

I recommend the read for those who like a peaceful Fall day walk in the eternal approaches to living your lives. You will enjoy it.
