5.0 out of 5 stars Great cookbook- Yummy!, April 6, 2010

This review is from: Autumn in the Country Cookbook (Gooseberry Patch) (Plastic Comb)
I own several of the Gooseberry Patch recipe books, but this is one of my favorites. The Apple Butterscotch Bars are absolutely wonderful. Want to cozy up with a good book?? This is the one to read and then decide what to make first. I would recommend this one. It's a keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars Flavorful recipes for fall, October 2, 2010

Thought I might write a little bit about the recipes in this book instead of how cute it is! This book is divided into sections, like sweets, tailgating, etc. The section I use the most is called "We Gather Together" and it contains a large variety of main dishes that you can use throughout the fall and winter. I wouldn't suggest this cookbook for spring and summer, however, since some of the mains are a little "heavy." Anyway, this book contains things like, "Pot Roast and Sweet Potatoes," (which is quite good), "One Pot Chicken & Noodles" (good) and "Cranberry Chicken." The pie on the front is actually a Caramel Apple Cheesecake and is quite tasty as well. All-in-all, I use this cookbook beginning in late August and throughout the winter. The recipes are mostly quite quick, tasty and full of flavor. There are many dip recipes, appetizers, sweets and mains. Great book, highly recommend!

I love this book! Almost every recipe makes my mouth water! My only complaint is that I haven't got enough meals in the year to cook everything in here more than once ; )

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute little cookbook that makes you want to try!, September 13, 2011

I tried the first (of probably many) recipe yesterday: Hamburger Crunch. My kids LOVED IT! This book is laid-out pleasingly, has a spiral-type spine (so it will lay flat), and I like the illustrations (does not have food illustrations but just Fall-type things like acorns, etc decorating the pages ). It is set up in the usual sections: main dishes, salads or appetizers, desserts/sweets, that sort of thing. This is my second "Gooseberry Patch" book, but I am sure it won't be my last.

Autumn in the Country celebrates Autumn's bounty, and this digital e-book version makes a great addition to any Gooseberry Patch fan's collection. The digital edition is nicely hyperlinked, includes Canadian measurements and equivalents and includes a variety of recipes to appeal to everyone.

In particular I thought Cheesy Wild Rice Soup, Pot Roast & Sweet Potates, and Pork Chops with Apple Stuffing sound really good. For dessert there is Pumpkin Gingerbread Cake and Scarecrow Mix. The stories and heart-warming ancedots add that special gooseberry patch flair.

I was also pleased to see, that in the Kindle for PC edition they added colored text, so in the future if Kindle ever becomes colorized, this book will reflect the same color scheme in the spiral-bound edition.
