5.0 out of 5 stars Encouraging message for single women, January 22, 2007
This review is from: Autumn Dreams (Seaside Seasons #3) (Paperback)
Whoever said that being 40 and single meant a hopeless, boring life? Cassandra Marie Merton has resigned that no one was meant to love her tall, blond, full figured frame. So, she decides to live her life content in the Lord, serving as one of Seaside's premiere bed and breakfast owners/innkeepers. Between her four older brothers, her teenage niece and nephew, a mother in her early stages of Alzheimer's, and a father who is desperately holding on to his independence, Cassandra's is so busy that she is broadsided by her newest guest at the B&B. The theme of this novel clearly reflects David's Psalm- Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your hearts

Autumn Dreams, the thrid in this series finds Cass Merton, the proprietor of an exceptional bed and breakfast in Seaside, NJ intrigued by long-term guest Dan Harmon. After witnessing the collapse of the Twin Towers on Sept 11th, in NYC, where most of his friends, collegues, and employees were killed, the godly financian wizard decides he needs a break from the rat race and comes to Seaside. He begins to fall hook-line-and-sinker for Cass, who has a very low self image, mostly due to her four brothers ribbing her about what they think are her big hips. In addition the brothers have left Cass with all of the responsiblity for an aging father who is entering sweepsteak contests and a mother with increasing dementia. But this is not her biggest worry, a troubled young girl who works at the bed and breakfast has unwittingly brought real danger and Cass is taken hostage by a gunman. Roper excels at getting into the minds of characters who have a definite soul deficiency, an inability to care about others.
