3.0 out of 5 stars OK
This is the story of Marshall, Legacy, and Kennedy. Marshall is a big time football player, who has to deal with the sucide of a good friend. Legacy is a painter, who's been in love with Kennedy, a long time, but don't think he would have a chance with a lady like her. Kennedy is involved with a guy who's a player, and drugs. What happenend to Kennedy was a totaly shock.

When I read the title Autumn Leaves, my perception of what the book was about was totally offbase. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I like the way the author approached the readers on the subject of AIDS. I think it was a well thought out process. I feel that when the subject of AIDS is approached too straightforward people as well as readers tend to lose interest. Victor wrote a great storyline and then incorporated AIDS into it. I only wish more authors were comfortable addressing such delicate issues. AIDS does not discriminate and it was really different to read a book that says...I AM HIV POSITIVE, but I didn't get it from being gay or using drugs. This book says, be careful with whom you sleep with and always use protection. I actually found myself crying out for the victims in the book. I guess I saw their fate before they actually did. This book sends a very powerful message to its readers. Victor keep up the good work and know Quest For More Bookclub...will support you and your endeavors in any way we possibly can. God Bless, my brother.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love so deep it can kill you..., November 17, 2000
This review is from: Autumn Leaves: Love So Deep (Paperback)
This was a very entertaining book. I feel that this is an excellent gift for young people to read. Unfortunately, promiscuity is still on a passtime for many and Mr. McGlothin so eloquently showed the results of it.

Kennedy was something else. This young lady had a lot on her plate that dealt with denial. She was running from a past that she wanted nothing to do with. She tried to ignore that she should have made a mad dash from Simpson before her initial involvement. Lastly, she did not know what to do with a good thing.

Marshall was workable. Unfortunately for him he made some mistakes that centered around the loss of his best friend. I liked his girlfriend and how she handled things. I wouldn't mind a spinoff on these two characters in a later book.

Legacy Childs, um, um, um. This man stole my heart. I definitely hope that Mr. Glothin gives us another look at this character. He deserves so much.

I hope you can tell that I enjoyed this book because I did! I look forward to the next project.

God Bless!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Master piece of work..., March 6, 2000
This review is from: Autumn Leaves: Love So Deep (Paperback)
Great story for the big screen. We must stop the SILENCE. Marshall was a hero even though he didn't want to be one. I enjoyed the relationship between Marshall and Jasmine. I was cheering for them throughout the book. My heart went out to Kennedy. The message needs to be heard. The decisions we make today will effect our lives tomorrow. I highly recommend this excellent read to the young and the old.

Victor, thanks so much for writing this novel. Be Blessed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deep Love Affairs, March 20, 2000

This review is from: Autumn Leaves: Love So Deep (Paperback)
Excellent book! "Autumn Leaves" touched on the reality of HIV/AIDS in the arena of Hetrosexual/Bisexual love affairs. For the men, if she is in there, someday she will come out. She might not come out during the day, but keep your eyes open because you might find little "Buffy" creeping in the city. In today's society more women are willing to sacrifice themselves and their morals in order to get a man. I really felt sorry for Kennedy, Legacy, and Simpson. What a Love Triangle! Kennedy was blinded by love. You should never want to fall in love so deep until you forget who you are. Legacy tried to fix Kennedy's problems and rescue her from the pains of the world. Anyone that you love is going to go through their own pain whether you are present or not. You cannot stop another person's life experiences. Simpson was a player with issues! He stayed so high until I wonder if he ever had time to feel his real pain. In life, if you have too much alcohol, drugs, and sexual partners, it is possible that they may become your GOD. If you need these things to survive, then these items or people can become that in which you trust and worship. A very dangerous place to be. Been there, done that! This book is a must... Be responsible and get tested for HIV. Together, we can stop the spread of HIV/AIDS.

5.0 out of 5 stars IN AUTUMN LEAVES, THE LOVE IS SOOO DEEP, December 19, 1999
This review is from: Autumn Leaves: Love So Deep (Paperback)
I, too, would love to see this book on the big screen. Victor McGlothin has created a story with a love so deep, I could feel it. The friendship between Marshall and Rory is beautiful, AND it crosses the color line which anyone can relate to. I was so familiar with the love between Marshall and Jazmine, as the plot thickened I couldn't put the book down. Kudos to Victor McGlothin for working such an important dilemma as AIDS into the story line because we must STOP THE SILENCE!

5.0 out of 5 stars changes of deep love, February 6, 2000

This review is from: Autumn Leaves: Love So Deep (Paperback)
"Autumn Leave" was chosen for our review by the Phenomenal Women Book Club of Houston Texas. We had the pleasure of discussing this novel with the author Victor McGlothin himself. I love the way he sneeks in on how you can contract the AIDS virus through various relationships. I recommend this novel to high school and college students in relationships. Also to the women who concisiously suspects her significant other and wont let go. Next, to the searching man or women who mentally plans their future on apperance. Victor McGlothin is definitely on his way to the top. If you have not had the opportunity to have this brother visit your club you should plan to. Victor discribed autumn leaves "as beautiful and bringing about change". We all have a season in life we all go through change. We loved Victor's warm humorous personality we greatfully apreciated his presance. Don't miss out on this wonderful novel of "Autumn Leaves" buy the book!

5.0 out of 5 stars For all of you who have ever loved so deep, read this book., October 24, 1999
This review is from: Autumn Leaves: Love So Deep (Paperback)
From the moment that I picked up this book, it was hard to put it down. I laughed and cried throughout the entire story with each turn of events. My heart went out to Kennedy James who needed and met someone who could give her the type of love that she truly needed. Marshall Coates was a truly remarkable football hero who gets his life back on track after getting caughtup with the benefits of being a star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second Chances, August 14, 2000

Victor McGlothin: a tall, dark, handsome man with the "write" words!

Victor's second book, "Autumn Leaves: Love So Deep", describes the real-life, day-to-day drama of the urban culture. Issues involving drugs, relationships, AIDS and college life are addressed in a style that speaks directly to the African-American community. He vividly creates scenes that have kept me on the edge of my seat, savoring and devouring each and every word. Many times throughout the book, I have been overwhelmed with emotion and have found myself nodding in agreement, laughing, becoming angry and sometimes even crying with and for the characters.

"Autumn Leaves" offers its characters second chances and oppotunities to make their lives better. Some of them found out a little too late.

I, too, was given a second chance to meet and talk with Victor and to read both of his books. Don't miss your opportunity to read both of his books! I GUARANTEE you won't want to put them down! I am IMPATIENTLY awaiting the arrival of the third book!

Continue to put God first, Victor, and He will continue to bless you and your future endeavors!

5.0 out of 5 stars TRULY A LOVE SO DEEP, April 22, 2000
By
This review is from: Autumn Leaves: Love So Deep (Paperback)
I loved this book. My heart truly went out to Kennedy. Simpson Stone got what he deserved, he was such an ass. I am happy that it worked out for Marshall and Jasmine. Jasmine was a very stong woman to have endured the things that she went through with Marshall. Legacy was a true friend, even though he was not there at the end with Kennedy, you could truly feel his pain. I wish much success and blessings to Victor McGlothin. Peace!
