5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
This is a fantastic book for toddlers. It boasts great illustrations and words that sound fun, yet which aren't silly or Seuss-y. I picked up a copy at the libary for my 1 year old last year and as autumn approached this season had to have a copy to call our own.

2.0 out of 5 stars Factual error distracts from fun
This is a wonderful, colorful, fun read.

Sadly, I can't recommend it, since it bizarrely, in the middle of listing things that are clearly and specifically autumn, has birds building nests (and the nest is even depicted with eggs in it). Um? Eggs are laid in spring, and birds build nests only for eggs. (Squirrels make leaf nests to keep warm in. That would...

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful fall read!, October 10, 2003
This review is from: Autumn Walk (Small Seasons) (Board book)
Autumn Walk by Ann Burg is a fantastic book that celebrates autumn in all its glory! The language is wonderful and evokes the feeling of fall and all the sensations that go with it. The illustrations by Kelly Asbury are also terrific. The cute little puppy gets suited up and tromps around the neighborhood full of fall colors: orange, gold, red, and brown. I am currently reading this story to my young infant while she enjoys the beautiful colors and the rhythmic sound of my voice reading the poem while at the same time it is equally enjoyed by my 3 year old as he learns about all the exciting changes that autumn brings. This book will soon be a classic for every small child!

5.0 out of 5 stars We Love This Board Book!, October 12, 2007

This is a fabulous little board book. Oftentimes, the language in board books is very simplistic. Not here. With wonderful rhymes and beautiful literary devices, this book is a joy for both children and their parents. My favorite page begins: "A whiff of apples and cinnamon toast, air that is corduroy-cold..." What wonderful sensory images! My three-year-old son loves this book, and even my nine-month-old daughter stares at each page as we read it. This one is definitely a fall favorite of ours.

Elegantly written, beautifully illustrated... I'm always happy when my 2.5 yr old pulls this or "Winter Walk" out for a read. I hope these books gain the recognition they deserve -- in our family, they hold a treasured place right alongside "Goodnight Moon" and "The Happy Lion."

Bring on the Spring and Summer Walks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Autumn Walk fan!, October 15, 2004
This review is from: Autumn Walk (Small Seasons) (Board book)
This is a sweet book for all ages. The way that the book is written is absolute poetry. I have read this book to our twins since they were about 3 months old. They love the colors and the story of a cute puppy who takes a walk in the autumn air. It brings up so many different possibilities for discussion to expand children's ideas of autumn in a fun way. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Even adults will enjoy the creative descriptions. It will take you back to Thanksgiving at Grandma's house!

My 10 month old daughter loves this book...it is one of her favorites. My husband and I also enjoyed reading it to her. It is one of those books that you can read again and again and enjoy it every time. We just brought Winter Walk and are hoping the author will write a Spring and Summer Walk. A definite must-read!

5.0 out of 5 stars FRESH AND FUN!!!, August 11, 2003

Kelly Asbury illustrates another soon-to-be classic with AUTUMN WALK. Asbury's visual pizzazz lends itself perfectly to Ann Burg's winning text. This is a warm and fuzzy book that will help young kids learn about that brisk, crunchy time of year called Autumn. It's fun to read and look at...as are all books illustrated by the great Kelly Asbury. Collect 'em while you can folks, Asbury's books are all classics for the ages and you'll want a first edition!

Um? Eggs are laid in spring, and birds build nests only for eggs. (Squirrels make leaf nests to keep warm in. That would have done nicely on that page.)

Our children deserve better. They are cut off from nature enough as it is.
