I was surprised when I began looking for a replacement lavalier mic for our AKG lapel which had a short. Most replacement lavaliers cost well over $100-$200 for just the mic. We're just a small church, so we didn't need such a high priced mic.
I was skeptical when I came across this mic since it was cheap and there were no reviews, but I went ahead and gave it a try. The description on another website said it would work for our AKG even though this is a four pin mini XLR and not a three pin mini XLR which is what our AKG uses. To my surprise it did fit and worked fine (it was a tight fit). Right off I noticed a difference in sound, this mic was more sensitive and needed a little adjustment on the EQ. After adjusting the trim and EQ, things where starting to sound good. Crisp highs, and no boomy lows. Had to EQ the mids down a little to remove some muddiness, but I had to do that with the original AKG mic.
This mic might not be as good as the AKG mic it replaced, but it was definitely worth the $30-$40 dollars compared to several hundred. I haven't noticed any feedback problems even at high volumes, so overall I'm very pleased with this mic, and so is our pastor (who is the one using it). By the way, as far as sound quality goes, our pastor couldn't even tell a difference in this mic and the original AKG mic it replaced.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who simply needs a cost efficient replacement lavalier for live sound.
