From the writers of the post-apocalyptic smash hit serial, Yesterday's Gone, comes Available Darkness, a new breed of vampire serial thriller.

The Darkness Has Awoken

FBI Special Agent Caleb Baldwin is on the hunt for a serial killer who has left a trail of burned bodies. One of those victims -- his wife. As he gets closer to finding the killer, he falls deeper into an elaborate conspiracy.

A man wakes buried alive with no memory of who or what he is. In his pocket, a note: "Avoid the sunlight and don't touch anybody." Now he is being hunted by the FBI while trying to remember his monstrous past. He must control the darkness within before it consumes him and the child whose life he must protect.

11-year-old Abigail was dying slowly each day as the prisoner of a sick man. Until she is saved by the most unlikely of heroes -- a vampire with a deadly touch. He is her only hope, and she may hold the key to unlocking the memories of his hidden past.

Past, present, fate, and future are on a collision course as the hours of AVAILABLE DARKNESS are ticking away and a force greater than anything the world has ever seen threatens humanity.

Available Darkness is an epic serialized journey that reinvents vampire mythology with a fast paced, character-driven thriller that blends action, mystery, fantasy, and horror in an addictive, tragically romantic story.

As usual, episode prices will be .99 during the season. After we release the full compilation on Oct. 31, episodes will go to $2.99, but the full season will be available for $5.99.

NOTE: This is a revised version of the original Available Darkness: Book One, released in Summer 2011. If you read that book, no longer available for sale, you don't need to read this one before Season Two starts in November 2012. This is a revised work, improving on the original in many ways ( including improved story flow, narrative, dialogue, and removing clunky bits of exposition which slowed down the original). The changes are detailed in the author's note. While we believe this is a much better reading experience, we didn't change any of the events of the first book in order to stay true to that book and so as not to penalize readers by forcing them to read a new version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!! October 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'd never heard of serialized fiction when I stumbled upon Z2134, also by Mr. Platt and Mr. Wright. I've discovered a new obsession! I was pleasantly surprised to find a whole wealth of serialized fiction by these authors and have jumped in head first! The first "episode" of Available Darkness is awesome! Great writing, great characters, and a story that sucks you in! I love the new take on vampires. So great! I can't wait to start the next episode!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Platt and Wright have done it again October 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I am a huge fan of these authors, and I'm addicted to all of their serials. Available Darkness is no exception. I was hooked from the start. A new and original take on vampires that leaves you begging for the next episode.

I never write reviews, but feel that this is one of Wright and Platt's overlooked serials, even though it is just as amazing as the rest. Read this book, you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read December 21, 2013

I enjoyed this episode of available darkness. This is the first story I've read from David Wright and Sean Platt. I listen to their selfpublishingpodcast and I read write publish repeat. This story and the episode 1 of whitespace lead me to buy the 1st full season of whitespace. Haven't started that yet, but this is a good fast read. I really like serial concept.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great writing ability March 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ok so I gave it 5 stars although I had a few gripes BUT this is why. I read this book/episode knowing it was from a genre that I dont enjoy that much (I dont like dark-violence all that swimming about in my head doesn't make for a good nights sleep! : D )but I wanted to know about this serial thing! SO I'm leaving a comment because the writing is great. Its some of the best writing from an indie published (sort of self published if they own the company- no?) book I've read. There is a lot of indie crap on amazon now that anyone can publish. These authors are definitely the best (indie) writers I've come across- even though if the topic is not my subjective favorite- who cares? You are looking at this book b/c you like the genre so I hope this is helpful. Great writing. Great characters. Dark and dirty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh and Exciting, Another Winner!!! January 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I've never been much for vampire novels, hell, I wasn't much for post-apocalyptic zombies or demons either until I read Yesterday's Gone and Monstrous (by the same authors). One thing I've learned from the talent at Collective Inkwell is that not only do these guys write killer fiction, they create amazing characters. In fact, my favorite part of their stories are the characters and once again I have been captured.

How do you take an old, worn out (in my opinion), shake-n-bake genre and make it new and exciting? You add some Platt & Wright (isle 3, top shelf on the seasoning rack, you can't miss it). They bring a level of fresh intensity to the genre with living characters; instead of a sparkly vampire you get...well, you should read. Let's just say it's WAY cooler than sparkles. Anyway, Available Darkness: Episode One blew my expectations out of the water. This story grabbed me by the throat and will not let me go. I fear I must read to the end in order to, hopefully--or not--, be released. So, in the interest of my sanity and my very life, I must read on.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the first titles I read November 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is one of the first books I read of David and Sean's. It started out as a blog that they wrote every week - it was the father of the rest of their amazing books. I love the suspense in the book, the humanity they tie into the "monsters" and it's an all around fantastic well written read. As usual. If you loved their other books like Yesterday Gone - you'll blow through this with a huge smile on your face begging for more.
