From the Publisher

This book is written primarily for the coach who is interested in installing a complete offense within a simple framework. The concept and design of the Flexing Offense is easy to install and to teach. Whenever the squad has a collective grasp of the offensive concept, thereby understanding its functions, the coach then can ease into the Multiflex Attack to broaden the base of offensive exploitations with multiple-alignments that do not alter the basic play structure.

For the coach who wants to install an offense that truly can adapt to lean talent and physical size--and desires to play loose and free-wheeling when game situations are favorable--the Flexing/Multiflex offensive attack may be the answer. Unlike many other coaching books, however, the author is not going to be disingenuous with the read by implying that the concept of flexing alone will guarantee winning--there are too many physical, mental and situational factors that separate winning from losing. With this having been stated, the author's sincere and forthright committal is simply that this manual can assist any practicing coach in GETTING THE MOST OUT OF AVAILABLE PERSONNEL with the Flexing and the Multiflex offensive plans of attack! This edge, thereby, can help to boost the confidence of the players, which, in turn, can be helpful in overcoming such negative realities as a physical mismatch against the opposition, a loss of a key athlete due to an injury, inclement wea! ther conditions, etc.

From the Author

A portrayal, at last, of offensive football that culminates a true end-product evolution of established offensive attacks. This integrated offensive system retains the credibility of all backfield members as true contributions to its running and passing schemes, alike. This presentation, in part, will include the following agenda.

First, a modern offensive concept--a "flexing offense"--that describes the ways and means to field a basic, yet complete and potent, run/pass attack! The play series designed for the flexing offense is highly efficient, and serves as an excellent guide for innovations that are put into use by collegiate and professional extension of a Slot-I offensive attack, which is carefully planned and illustrated in detail.

Second, the flexing concept can easily be expanded through a simplified means of deploying multiple formations with a systemized structured termed as the "Multiflex Offense"! The Multiflex plan places its emphasis upon the usage of varied formations without bringing about player confusion or mental mistakes. The Multiflex plan of attack, as explained and illustrated, features a consistent play format with a stable set of assignments for all positions.

Finally, a coverage of useful organizational designs and philosophies will assist the practicing coach in facilitating a plan of operation! Efficient organization that is guided by an understanding of the complexities of problem areas is "the real key" to a coach's successful management and operation of the program.

The reader should find this information easy to read and enjoyable, as well as informative and gratifying. Although the Flexing/Multiflex Offense is a culmination of the author's professional quest, the focus is on a REVELATION rather than any individual or group of coaching personalities.
