5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
I'm a big fan of Anthony's work, especially in Saosin but also all his other projects. Sometimes, though, I'm not in the mood for loud, urgent music; I just want something to relax to. Before now, we couldn't do that and listen to Anthony at the same time - now, we have Avalon.

Superb!

1.0 out of 5 stars This CD feels like a nightmare.
Let me begin by saying that I am a huge AG fan, whether it be Saosin or Circa Survive.
This CD was a huge disappointment IMO given the quality of his musical talent and, well obviously his voice. He has an amazing voice unmatched by nearly anyone out there. It is a shame they didn't fully take advantage of this. For most of the album his voice seems over shadowed...

4.0 out of 5 stars Antonio Verde, October 23, 2010

If you're use to hearing him in Circa Survive, this record may not be for you. It might take a few listens for it grow on you. But, if you can stomach opening your mind a bit, then I'm sure you can find something to love here. I'd rate this 4 1/2 if I could.

Anthony is an amazing musician and performer. This record is great, recommend it to anyone looking for a change of pace.

In no way should this work have been rated 1 star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anthony Green doesn't disappoint., August 29, 2009

A great solo album for ant. Has a nice mix of elements of his previous work (dear child being a shining example). Tracks that appeared previously on a lesser-known project of Anthony's, High And Driving, reappear as a new version on Avalon (Babygirl, First day of work at the microscope store). Different songs will appeal to different listeners. Some songs may be slower and seem to drone on, but not a negative change for Anthony, as this gives him a chance to let his vocal talents and lyrical talents shine in a different light.

Having been a fan of Anthony's work since Zolof the Rock and Roll destroyer, I found this album refreshing; Rarely do we get to hear him cover several different styles of music. Hearing the High and Driving tracks re-recorded and slightly re-written was also fairly nostalgic.

Well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome, June 29, 2009
This review is from: Avalon (Audio CD)
Anthony greens solo album "Avalon" is in my opinion, one of his greatest works. With songs like "she loves me so" showing off his amazing high vocal range. This album shows a great contrast from his more intense work in circa survive and saosin. Even if you haven't followed Green through his career in previous bands it is still an awesome CD with a lot of inspiring lyrics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously? Seriously., December 25, 2008
This review is from: Avalon (Audio CD)
This album is a prescription for a good day. One track, two tracks, the whole record. I didn't believe it until I bought it myself. Perfect way to break that Starbucks addiction; this is the only $12 I can't stop listening to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Avalon!, September 16, 2008
This review is from: Avalon (Audio CD)
Anyone who is a fan of Circa Survive or Saosin is definitely going to like this album. It varies a little from some of the heavier stuff Green is known for, but it's definitely great for when you're feeling something to relax to. "Avalon" is so completely real and raw, completely full of emotion. It's such a good first solo album it hurts. "Dear Child (I've Been Dying To Reach You)" is not only the single, but my favorite song on the album.

Green shows that he can branch out from Circa Survive's complex lyrics and deliver something heartfelt and simple.

This solo effort from the Circa Survive frontman deserves a listen. It's enjoyable, unique, and absolutely fascinating. Green has a distinct voice and aura about him that is unparalelled in today's market. His live show also rocks! If you like Circa, you'll love this album - but there is something there for new fans to get into as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars "I know you spent your money to see what you hear on CD. .", August 8, 2008
By

This review is from: Avalon (Audio CD)
Anthony Green lead singer from Circa Survive and old Saosin released a collection of his most somber and personal songs on his first solo record. Avalon is chiefly an acoustic guitar driven record that sparkles with echos and breathes in bells and chimes that seem very organic with the music. As usual, Anthony finds a way to put meanings and feelings into words like no other, this album is worth buying just to read the lyrics! On Drug Dealer he sings "I've millions of recordings that I've faked. . If you could only offer love."

The only thing I didn't like about this CD is the version of Miracle Sun because it includes a distracting lead electric guitar that drowns out the acoustic guitars and during the chorus he doubles his voice which in some cases it works but here it takes away all the power. Go check out the version of Miracle Sun that he did on Steve's Untitled Rock Show (on Youtube) and you'll hear a huge difference.

Make sure you get the extended edition with the bonus tracks because it includes the 4-song High and Driving EP in which Anthony's vocals are reminiscent of his early days with Saosin as well as including 5 demos of the songs for the album. Those were the same demos that Anthony posted on his Myspace in the months leading up to the release of Avalon which is really great because I love the demo version of She Loves Me So just a little bit more because it's just Anthony and an acoustic guitar with this haunting echo while he sings.

If you like Circa Survive, good Saosin (w/Anthony), or Sound of Animals Fighting you should definitely pick up this album and if you're just browsing and looking for music that has meaningful and interesting lyrics, passionate singing and great music then check out Avalon.

Must hear:
She Loves Me So
Dear Child (I've Been Dying to Reach You)
Slowing Down (Long Time Coming)
