Product Description

Spitfire '40 is more than just a flight simulator. . .more than just a game. It is a time machine, taking you back to face the Messerschmidts and Stukas with your skills, reflexes and the finest plane in aviation history. Spitfire/The Simulator. Starting with the -scramble order, take off and set an interception course. The computer Spitfire -flies exactly like the Mark I, right down to fuel pump trouble while diving! The instrument panel is an exact replica. But be prepared for the speed at which Jerry attacks. There are four different pilot Wes, each presenting a different challenge when attacking. Watch your fuel and ammunition consumption, too, and be prepared to break off combat to land and fight another day. You can save your log to disk. As you accumulate more hours of flight time, your Spitfire becomes more realistic in what it expects from the pilot. The Germans also become better pilots, making Spitfire '40 a challenge that grows with your skill, never beyond it. The best thing since the real thing! Spitfire '40 brings you back to Britain during the days when the German army was on the edge of France, preparing to cross the Channel. Hitler has ordered that the R.A.F. must be driven from the_ skies, and the Luftwaffe responded with all of its might. As a new volunteer, you have a few hours of flight training, - the Spitfire Pilot's Notes and a ticket to the nearest aerodrome. Now is your opportunity to join the ranks of those who valiantly defended Great Britain from the Nazi juggernaut. In this solitaire or multi-player version, each player starts out at 10,000 feet. Your mission: shoot down as many planes as possible before you run out of lives or ammunition. Spitfire '40 comes with its own set of Pilot's Notes written in the style of the notes used back in 1940; the historical booklet describes the plane's development, and a cardstock sheet is a handy reference during flight.
