4.0 out of 5 stars Very relaxing
This album was inspired by John's trips to Italy and Santa Catalina Island. This is beautiful music, in the 'new age' style. He is not jazz, so cannot be compared to the piano greats, the likes of Oscar Peterson or Bill Evans, as another reviewer suggested. No. John's style is completely different. 2.0 out of 5 stars pretentious pseudo classical silliness
John Tesh seems like a nice enough guy, but his music stinks, quite frankly. Much of it sounds like figure skating music; some of it sounds like theme music for the local news. Why anyone would actually spend money and time on it, however, is beyond me.

He is not jazz, so cannot be compared to the piano greats, the likes of Oscar Peterson or Bill Evans, as another reviewer suggested. No. John's style is completely different. Some tracks have an orchestral feel, while others use sparse instrumentation. Charlie Bisharat on violin is brilliant. This is music to relax by...perfect for a hot summers day. "Spanish Steps" is a stand-out track with its flamenco touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest Tesh yet!, June 27, 1998

A real 'style' departure for Tesh from his previous works. His technical proficiency on the keyboard and his writing technique seems to have moved leaps and bounds on this CD. A great listen from start to finish. A+

5.0 out of 5 stars John Tesh is amazing, April 28, 2000

This review is from: Avalon (Audio CD)
This CD was just the best CD that I have ever heard. While all the other Cd's are amazing that he put out, this one just tops them all. I can't wait until he puts out another album. This CD really should be about 50 stars but they only let me put out up to five. E-mail me if you wanna join the John Tesh fan club.

5.0 out of 5 stars John Tesh Avalon CD, April 5, 2009
This review is from: Avalon (Audio CD)
Wow...what more can be said for this man and his god given talent.

I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert in Seattle at the Opera House in the early 90's when he was still touring....I haven't seen a whole lot of concerts in my life (grew up on an island in Southeast Alaska) and this concert by far was the most entertaining and special of my life.

Would give anything to be able to see him again!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best of the Tesh., May 5, 1998

From the opening of "L'Aquila" to the end of "Goodnight Moon", the full passion of the music embaraces you. For the veteran of Tesh previous hits to newcomers, like myself, you will not be disappointed.
