4.0 out of 5 stars well done
This is perhaps the best Arthurian, or lesbian, romance that even exists. I wish I could find more titles from this author, but none seem available. I'm so glad to see a departure from the traditional lesbian detective stories, and so on, and am proud that an author managed to convey the brutality and realism of the time period into an amazingly compelling story about...

This is perhaps the best Arthurian, or lesbian, romance that even exists. I wish I could find more titles from this author, but none seem available. I'm so glad to see a departure from the traditional lesbian detective stories, and so on, and am proud that an author managed to convey the brutality and realism of the time period into an amazingly compelling story about the island of avalon. I'm no writer myself, being an illustrator, and wish i had been around when this book was published to do the cover.

I found my copy of this book twenty years ago, had it signed by the author, and have read my copy almost to tatters, so am about to order a new one....but I had to take the time to recommend this book to anyone who enjoys archaic-styled stories, with enough realism in them to thankfully overshadow the usual 'required' romantic aspects of a naiad novel. I'd far rather see a movie made from this story than any other book with 'avalon' in the title.

to enjoy. The story is about young Argante, daughter of Arthur... or Lancelot, it is something that is hard to figure since her mother slept with both men. It is a funny novel set during the times of the beginnings of Christianity and the wars between the English and The British. Read it, you'll enjoy it!
