    Have to wind up every day and do wish it could open up a little farther to make it easier to read but still love this watch.

    Solid construction, nice brushed metal exterior, and a very cool watch face design.

    I'll keep this review to the point: for the price, this watch looks and feels amazing. It does have, as others have said, a good "heft" to it -- it has a decent, heavy feel and feels solidly built. I took it to an engraver and he said he could easily engrave both the front and back. The outside has a nice satin brush finish that isn't prone to small nicks. As others have said, the cover could stand to open about 15 degrees more, but it's something that's more an annoyance of symmetry than a detraction of functionality.

    When opened, you see an aesthetically pleasing, clean face, and, of course, the view into the movement of the watch itself. The dial is clear and easy to read. My only gripe about it is that the "Avalon" name is rather big inside and covers up the 28-32 second markers -- a small gripe, I know, but they could have made the lettering and logo a bit smaller and moved it up a few millimeters (or just put the second marks in anyway). Overall it's very pleasing to the eye and very interesting to watch the machine do its thing. I'm sure it will draw plenty of stares and comments in the future.

    As I checked under the hood of this neat timekeeper, I examined the movement with a 10x ocular and was rather surprised at how unfinished the small bits were. There are a lot of sharp, rough cuts, poorly milled curves, and cheap-looking pieces inside this watch. The gears seem to be well made, but other parts are, well, I wouldn't expect to see this watch stand the test of time (no pun meant) with daily use. This wasn't enough for me to remove a star from my rating though, as I only paid $60 for this and I wasn't expecting laser-cut, diamond-etched, mirror polished internals. It's a pocket-watch made in China, and you get what you pay for.

    This is a great watch, it functions well and looks very stylish. There are big Roman Numerals on the watch face and each second has a tick mark. Because of the skeleton design you can see the inner moving parts of the watch. I am glad I got it, and the company selling this watch on Amazon was very easy to deal with, the watch arrived very quickly. The only problem I have had is that sometimes the clip on the end of the chain gets caught on the watch crown and you have to play with it a little to pull it off before you can press the button on the crown to open the cover. But that doesn't happen very often.

    I bought two of these for gifts, and am very happy with them. Solid construction, nice brushed metal exterior, and a very cool watch face design. I'm sure there are more elegant watches out there, but for the price, it would be hard to beat this one.

    I just got it in the mail today (friday), and I ordered it this past tuesday. Awesome.
    Right out of the box, like others, I'm impressed with the weight, and solidity of this watch. The chain is nice too, just wish it had a belt clip instead of a key ring-like clasp. Easily remidied, though. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have a rear window. But, mechanical pocket watches of this quality WITH rear windows cost twice as much. I've obviously have yet to see how well it keeps time, but as long as it doesn't loose more than a minute a day, I don't mind. You buy a mechanical pocket watch for its coolness. If all you want or need is pinpoint accuracy, buy a 25 dollar digital timex or something. The ticking sound is nice, somewhat loud, but I like being able to hear it. Again, that's why you buy a watch like this.
    All in all, I recomend.
    Value = A
    Quality = B+
    Asthetics = A
    Accuracy = ?

    The surface of the casing is brushed steel, and the watch is quite weighty compared to cheaper pocket watches. The shiny blue hands make for an interesting look. The watch keeps time well, and is fairly quiet.

    There are a few defects with mine. There's a small but fairly deep scratch on the inside of the hinged cover. The chain has a couple of links that appear partially damaged or unfinished on the surface, but none of these flaws are very noticeable.

    Overall, I like this watch a lot. Defects aside, this watch seems durable, high-quality and quite beautiful.

    This reasonably priced pocket watch arrived just before Xmas. I'm very pleased with it's overall quality. I has a nice "heft" and the details are very nice. I bought it as a present for a 20-year-old after checking out all the pocket watches I could find in our local shopping mall. Nothing I saw while shopping came close to quality of this watch even at twice the price.

    The only negative I can find is that the door could stand to open maybe 5 degrees further. Not really a big deal.

    Wow. I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend and we're both very happy with it. He winds the watch every morning and it holds accurate time for almost 24 hours. The watch is a comfortable weight and it's comfortable to hold and wear. It's really cool to watch all the mechanisms and gears working on the inside of the watch. Overall, it's sleek, kind of minimalist, and very practical. No fancy gizmos or batteries or lights or alarms, etc. here. Just a good all around pocket watch.
