WebEasy creates good web sites, but requires some patience,
By
This review is from: Web Easy 7.0 Professional (CD-ROM)
I used Web Easy 7 Professional to make a very professional-looking web site, equal to sites created by much more expensive software. Web Easy did almost everything I required. I created my own page style and format, inserted text and hypertext links, and imported graphics and photos. Pages within a site can be different lengths, but if you start with a supplied template of a certain width, you apparently can't change it.
It's easy to preview the site you create, and what you see is really what you get. You can include meta tags on your site, but it seems that all pages of your site will have the same meta tags. You can insert a visitor counter, but you may need assistance from your ISP to have it count correctly. Many feedback form styles are available, but I haven't yet figured out how to make them send all of the information entered in the fields. The tables I could make in Web Easy were not satisfactory for a catalog with more than 50 items. You could divide your catalog up into several web pages, or use a link to open an Excel spreadsheet or Word document. Also, I couldn't paste a whole Excel or Word table into a Web Easy table. Learning to use Web Easy took some effort, particularly because I wanted to create my own web site from scratch rather than using one of the templates supplied. The user's manual is pretty elementary, but the help menu is detailed, searchable, and generally helpful. Uploading my site to the web was frustrating. You need to enter host information into the Publish Assistant without many clues from the manual or the help menu. When I finally entered the right information, I got the cryptic error message "The web site package is older than the web site document", and only one page of my site uploaded, even though the site looked fine with the preview function. The error message should have described how to fix the problem. Eventually I figured out that it could easily be fixed by clicking Build / Web Site. You can visit my site at www.KeySynthesis.com

Worst product experience ... ever!!,
This review is from: Web Easy 7.0 Professional (CD-ROM)
I never fill out these ratings but felt it was my duty to warn everyone else about how horrible this product is. I'm running XP on a 9 month old Dell computer and this thing crashes, loses data, and wastes time. The 50 bucks for this piece of ---- has cost me over $1500.00 in time trying to fix the errors it creates. It will work ... you'll change one thing ... then several other things won't work anymore. I even consulted our I.S.P. provider that specializes in web design, their comment (after trying to help) was "thanks for showing us this product, we'll warn all of our customers to stay away from it".
I have never hated software until now. STAY AWAY!!! You've been warned.

Beware! NO Tech Support - Serial Number Stops Working,
By MikeRadio "mikeradio" (Maryland) - See all my reviews

*** UPDATED 5/16
- After reaching a HIGHER UP at Avanquest, I was referred to several techs who had me try different things, yet the issue STILL could not be fixed. This is a great BASIC Web designer. However, beware that you may experience the same issues with startup especially running Vista. I am looking forward to se if the next version is any better. You will notice on the Avanquest Support Forum that there are MANY users having a problem where after the 1st reboot of their vista machine the software no longer retains your serial number. You have to enter it each time over and over. Emails to tach support go unanswered with nothing but reply messages saying someone will get back in a day. But nothing happens at all. This product alsmot can be considered abandonware with this type of support. All I want to do is USE it, and the sewrial number issue continues to happen.. (not only to me .. to many). I can't comment on the features since I haven't been able to properly get it started!

Non-intuitive,
By
This review is from: Web Easy 7.0 Professional (CD-ROM)
This program is useless. The interface is confused, busy, and non-intuitive. The simplest of commands, like displaying the source coding, are obfuscated and the ramp-up time to just passably use the program is outrageous. Although it claims to be easy to use and to walk you through webpage creation, the walk-thrus I've found are minimal and still create a number of issues that don't seem to be covered, like having a replaced graphic ripple through the subpages of the site). I've figured out more advanced programs like Photoshop, InDesign, and ULead's Video Editor in a single day without ever cracking a manual, but despite playing around with this for a week and reading most of the manual, it still is clunky and hard to figure out.
If you are looking for a cheap alternative to DreamWeaver (which I was), don't bother here. Spend the extra money. Sure, you'll be out at least $150 more, but the time and frustration you'll save will well be worth it.

great product for a novice, but terrible customer service,
By untitled (Arizona) - See all my reviews

I was able to build a nice website using this product no thanks to any manuals or tech support (which is non existent). If you call their number (which is NOT Toll free) expect to wait almost an hour on hold. I have the professional edition and apparantly tech support does not deal with. So... after an hour on hold before reaching a human, I was told to use email. They also will answer one email and usually a form letter response. Don't expect any more from them. If I had more technical skills I would definitely upgrade to a better program than this one!!

I LOVE this software!,
By
This review is from: Web Easy 7.0 Professional (CD-ROM)
I've created three sites with WebEasy so far, and I have to say it's the easiest to use website creation software I've ever found... and I spent almost six months looking for something that didn't require a programming degree to figure out! Granted, I created fairly simple websites without ecommerce, chat, or RSS feeds. If you want a more robust site, chose a different package. If you want a simple website up and running in a day, choose Web Easy. Examples of my WebEasy sites can be found at [...] or [...].

DO NOT USE THEIR E-COMMERCE,
By
This review is from: Web Easy 7.0 Professional (CD-ROM)
The software works great
What ever you do STAY AWAY from CHARGE.COM. It is included and encouraged to be used for e-commerce using Web Easy software. They are a scam taking money from tens of thousands of people. Go to google and type in charge.com also known as pipeline data and Cts holdings They are all the same company and start reading the nightmares people have dealt with.

Too many bugs,
This review is from: Web Easy 7.0 Professional (CD-ROM)
First frustration was program locking up quite often. Second is that text and graphics positioned on the design page don't always end up in the exact same position when you "build" the site (basically a preview of what it is going to look like on the web). The final straw was uploading the file and finding out it would only load an older version of the file. The file name remained the same, but none of the new material we added and saved is there. It's there when you are working with the file, but it's missing when you upload. Not even going to try tech support based on all the unfavorable reviews.

A very satisfied customer,
By cb (Pittsburgh, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Web Easy 7.0 Professional (CD-ROM)
The reviews here seem to divide into really love this product or really hate it. I'm in the really love it category. I needed to put together a website for my business, but I'm certainly not a programmer. This software allowed me to put together a very satisfactory website in a weekend with a few snags. The website has a dozen pages, hyperlinks, graphic, nice background/foreground color effects, and pdf download links - not real sophistocated stuff, but very satisfactory for my purposes. I've gotten lots of compliments about it spontaneously from users, and it has absolutely increased my business.
The several snags I encountered when putting this together required me to seek support from the manufacturer. Unlike some of the other posters here, I got email responses to my queries within a few days for each of the problems I ran into, and especially pleasing was that the suggestions in the responses promptly solved the problem in question each time. A few days ago I ran into another problem with how the software was displaying on my monitor; a quick emailed response from the company today solved this problem with one simple setting change. This is way better support than I've encountered with most other vendors I've dealt with over the years.

It might be easy but it doesn't work right.,
By
This review is from: Web Easy 7.0 Professional (CD-ROM)
This is a terrible product. I had nothing but trouble with it, kept shutting down when I tried to add photos or anything I had to import from "outside" the software. Then when I went to upload, nothing. No support to speak of - no one could tell me why it wouldn't work.I threw it away finally. Stay away, this product sucks.
