I'll make this hopefully short.

1. As I said, this is the trial version of Driver Genius. The full version off the internet cost me (I think it was) $39 dollars.

I'll make this hopefully short.

1. As I said, this is the trial version of Driver Genius. The full version off the internet cost me (I think it was) $39 dollars.
2. You will be given 15 days to get free updates before you are cut off from updates.
3. I have both the internet download and the Amazon.com version. When I tried to install the Amazon version over mine (it appeared to have better control board and maybe easier to use) I was asked to sign up to purchase permission to use it--again. It would not take my licenes key and serial code numbers--I think I can find a way a around that problem.
4. My version works fine.
5. My version will track down all drivers my system needs to operate.
six. Neither version will tarack down drivers for games or other user added software for business programs and such.

The bottom line: The full version (like I have) is worth it--but I think you should be aware this is the 'trial' version.

BYE!

1.0 out of 5 stars You didn't know it but you bought the TRIAL version, May 7, 2009
This review is from: Driver Genius (CD-ROM)
Like a couple reviewers have said, this is a TRIAL version. You cannot do anything useful unless you buy additional software. Of course the box says nothing about being a TRIAL version. Called and got technical help. And even when I was given the license code and got the product to work, it would not download the drivers it searched for and said I needed. Big red Xs appeared next to those drivers. Even with the tech guy on the phone at the same time, we could not get this software to work. I am sending it back for its 30 day money back guarantee.

1.0 out of 5 stars Will not you download programs, December 2, 2008
This review is from: Driver Genius (CD-ROM)
I bought Driver Genius. When I tried to download this program I was put into a loop that would require buying an additional copy. If you follow the instructions after you are given your registration number will put you into this loop. The other programs I have bought from Avanquest also have problems that make them useless.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Diagnosis, June 14, 2009
This review is from: Driver Genius (CD-ROM)
Bought this thing some time ago. Only tried it recently when I started getting an occasional blue screen and thought I should perhaps update my drivers. It took five hours for this program to load five drivers. At least one was definitely the wrong driver. After five more hours I finally went to system restore and got my computer working again. All I can figure is that the program misdiagnosed my system and downloaded the wrong driver(s). It is now in the trash, where it belongs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Crap Software, November 16, 2010
This review is from: Driver Genius (CD-ROM)
Bought Driver genius in the box. I loaded it and the KEY on the CD label is not accepted. I feel like I've been ripped off by some 3rd world hack company.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price, June 8, 2009
This review is from: Driver Genius (CD-ROM)
As a reviewer said before, the program will detect "12 critical drivers" that need to be updated, and the download page will list 6 total drivers. Once you download those six (takes _forever_, i get better speeds just finding the driver from the manufacturer) you will rescan and find 12 critical drivers, again. And when you go to the download page, you will see the 6 drivers you just installed.

I knew for a fact that I needed more than 6 drivers since i just reformatted my computer (but lost the drivers I had backed up). I would skip this one

1.0 out of 5 stars I got taken, December 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

To make a long story short. This software is a very old version on which the license has expired. I found this out from the manufacturer. Basically, this version of the software is worthless and you are wasting your time and money if you order it.

1.0 out of 5 stars just another average product, December 22, 2010
This review is from: Driver Genius (CD-ROM)
Just installed this... and I'm not impressed. First I backed up all drivers. On my XP computer it took 11 minutes, on my Vista PC it took 1:45 minutes... then I checked for new drivers, and it takes AGES to download them... I mean dial-up speeds... I still haven't updated the drivers, I'm writing this as it is downloading, on 1 PC it is downloading last driver at 3Kb/s and it took 24 minutes, on other it is half way there with 12 minutes... real horrorshow... I might as well have done this through windows update and manualy... I suppose it does what it promises, but is way too slow...

4.0 out of 5 stars Review for full Version of Driver Genius 10 Professional, September 30, 2011
This review is from: Driver Genius (CD-ROM)
I purchased a download version of Driver Genius from the Avanquest(OEM)website for $29.95. They also charge $6.95 for a two year option to download again if needed, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. Without this option you have only 30 days to re-download if needed. I saved an extra copy of the download for later use if needed and hopefully that will work because I hate this 30 day download limit companies put on their software. Macafee does the same thing and saving an extra copy of their protection Suite has worked for me in the past when I've needed to reinstall.

Now for the actual review of DG. I recently changed my OS from XP to Win7 and had the same problem many others have had after this process, i.e. my graphics card wasn't compatible with Win7 and was recognized only as a 'Standard VGA Graphics Adapter'. The problem was that this graphics card did not have the correct resolution for Win7 and so my display was blurry and stretched over the screen so that circles were ovals and everything looked like crap. After spending many hours in forums unsuccessfully looking for a solution and then more hours on the 3 OEM websites involved (HP, Advanced Micro Devices and Microsoft) looking for and trying several different drivers and tools, which were also unsuccessful, I decided to try one of the commercial Driver finders and DG is the one i bought. In less than 1/2 an hour I had downloaded and installed 7 new drivers, my display was fixed and my HP laptop was running faster than it had when new. It also seems more stable but I'll give it some more time before I'm convinced of that. Overall this was well worth the $30. It also worked great on my newer Acer Win7 laptop.

In response to the reviewer who said he only got 5 of 10 needed driver updates, I suspect that the 5 he downloaded each had 2 driver updates. Several of my downloads had 2.
