I bought a new Seagate disk drive and needed to copy my old disk to this drive. The software that came with the drive was OK, but I started loosing icons on the 2nd reboot. Tried Symantec Ghost and the copied drive would not even boot. Copy Commander was quicker than the other two and made a perfect copy.

I used Copy Commander on a Win XP system with 2 SATA drives. All went well. The documentation is clear and the screens are easy to follow.
Update 5/7/06 On a new system with a fresh Win XP Pro install. 2 identical SATA drives. The second drive was empty. Copy Commander kept selecting a small slice of the source drive to copy. I did get it to work but I had to work through the manual steps. Update 5/20/06 On a WinXP system that had a very small unused section at the front of disk 0. Had to make the unused space into a tiny partision before Copy Commander would copy the drive.

I have a dual boot system, Windows XP and Vista, I wanted to replace my hard drive with a larger one and thought this looked like a good tool to do it but it would not work. I tried again and again but it would not work in any mode to make a transfer.
I finally gave up on this software after hours of trying to do something with it. I did find that the back-up included in Windows Vista worked great and I transfered everything from 2 partitions (XP and Vista) all settings and files to the new larger drive in about an hour, the software in my Vista Ultimate worked wonderful. I wish I would have saved the money I spent on Copy Commander 9.0 as it did absolutely nothing for me!

My hard drive had been making strange noises for a month and I was afraid it might quit on me. I reviewed a number of packages and Copy Commander seemed to do what I had in mind; 1. Copy everything on my failing hard drive to a new and larger hard drive. 2. After copying, swap the drives and proceed like nothing ever happened. I run WIN XP/Home and had roughly 40GB of data on my drive. The whole process took less than 3 hours. Have found no problems with the conversion after a month of use. I can certainly recommend Copy Commander for this application.

Our older software couldn't do this, so it was time for an upgrade.

This is the quieckest and easiest way to transfer data from one hard drive to another and still maintain all of your information. I moved OS from an 80 gig to a 320 gig hard drive and it booted right up when I changed to the new one with no problems!

I purchased Copy Commander at on the advice of my brother-in-law who is a Systems Administrator at a large electronics company. I had a pretty decent computer with a lot of data with old programs that are no longer supported. The simplest solution was to install a new hard drive. The new drive must be larger than the drive to be cloned.
This particular computer wouldn't recognize the HDD with the dual ribbon cable, so I ended up connecting it to the mother board via the CD-ROM cable. Once that was accomplished, replicating the drive went flawlessly. The computer now has a new lease on life.

My primary SATA hard drive on my Windows XP system was failing. So I bought a new (larger, faster) drive and used Copy Commander to copy the contents of the old drive to the new one. It took a few hours to finish, but worked great. The only problem I had was for some reason it changed the user account I was running under by default from "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator" from "C:\Documents and Settings\[my name]". This was no big deal as I just copied over the files from the old directory to the new one. I had to reset some of the preferences in a few of my programs. But I didn't need to reinstall the OS or any of my programs. That probably saved me 3 days of work, which was totally worth the cost of the program.
