I didn't bother with the door handle. It looked like it would come off too easily. But it opens just fine by grabbing the top. Where I have this, it actually works better to not have the handle.
While it was getting to temperature the fans were noisy, but it is now quiet. I actually had to read the instructions for how to set the temperature so it's not quite as intuitive as I like, but heh, I guess 3 minutes to absorb up from down is not too bad.
I love having wine at the perfect temperature. No more too cold white or too warm red. I buy wines to consume, not to preserve, so this works just right for me. I was happy to find a wine cooler just the right size for the space I wanted it in.
The back of the unit makes some of the spaces shorter. I have smaller desert bottles in those spaces. You just have to experiment with what fits where. Too bad champagne bottles don't fit, but I knew that going in.
I highly recommend this cooler for the casual consumer of wine.

I had been looking for a wine fridge for awhile. I had two specific requirements, it had to have dual temperature zones and fit at least a case of wine. This one was perfect. I have had it for two months now and it has held its temperature perfectly. It's really quiet and fits pretty much any size bottle, except magnums. The only complaint I have is the digital numbers on the front illuminate my living room when all the lights are off. I would defintley recommend this fridge, especially for a first one.

Unfortunately this is only an average Wine Cooler. The main reason is how quickly it changes fan speed. If it was more gradual it would be less noticable and not as annoying. As it is the change is drastic and each time it happens you will take notice.
Only recommended if you are going to keep it in a room which no one uses on a day to day basis.

It also cannot accomodate all my wines in the "correct" position and I have to put them on a diagonal - taking 3 places instead of one.

This refridgerator had problems with it from the second we plugged it in. It has trouble sustaining temperature and frequently would decrease and increase temperature throughout the day. It could not get as cold as advertised. Then about 2 months into owning it it began to make a VERY loud motor noise. When we contacted the company they said that it was too small to send someone out to repair it and that we had to ship it back to them at OUR own cost, and then pay a 10 processing fee.

Do not buy this product!

Update: *** It is still 2 months after trying to get a repair on this product and we still do not have a wine cooler. They said it is out of stock and we must wait 30+ days to receive it once its in stock.

Terrible -- Terrible product.

I enjoyed this right out of the box. I did have an issue with the upper cooler, cooling properly. Once i took the bottle out from in front of the fan and it cooled down to 46 where it was set. Once I put the bottle back in it stayed cool. Since then, I love, love this cooler. Bigger bottles do not fit but certain slots do allow a slightly larger bottle (i.e. prosecco). Very quite and extremely easy to set up out of the box.

worked fine but suddenly quit both zones after one year, same as another Avanti we have that also stopped working in one zone.

after being on hold for over an hour with Avanti customer service (number is on the back of unit) the less than friendly service person simply asked for my zip code, then told me where the nearest appliance service repair was....will they fix this unit.?? she didn't know...will they do warranty work on Avanti? she didn't know...well why would I go there I asked? she said, go there and they will tell you what is wrong with it, if it needs replacement parts you can order them by calling the number you reached me at...will Avanti pay for the diagnostics? NO. Will Avanti cover the parts needed under warranty? Yes, well...maybe, if you have your original receipt and we determine it is a warranty item then we will pay for part of the parts, no shipping, no labor....

the whole time she is giving me this run around in a "too bored to talk to you" voice, and I am looking at the Emerson wine cooler that sits by the two Avanti coolers that stopped working and I am suddenly thinking...just order another Emerson, cut your losses!

I would Avoid AVANTI, not only because they are Chinese made junk that quit after a year of running, but also because any company that doesn't stand behind their product and offers zero customer service is not one we should bother with. I lost my money, trying to help you save yours.

Bought this due to its price and size. Wanted a slightly larger one, but this is working out great for me. I actually had to look at the manual to figure out how to adjust the settings, but after that thirty-second fiasco, everything is great. I have it in my living room, and after the initial cool down, I can't hear the fan at all.

I have noticed some comments about these breaking down after a few months to a year, I'll change this review if that ever occurs with the time it took for my unit.
