if u live in an apartment with no vent or no high voltage outlet then this is the one .. its connected directly to the regular outlet like any small appliance .. it dries cloth very fast .. the drum is not that small .. like it can take up to 10 Lbs .. it have a timer with cool warm and hot settings .. its very quit and doesn't move while operating .. and the best part it doesn't need to be vented .i have the Avanti portable washer too .. and both washer and dryer are really a life saver .. i wouldn't wish for more.

I've had this dryer for about a month and so far I'm very happy with it. I picked this out from the others because it was a little bigger and could dry a couple of towels or some jeans and you don't need to vent it outside. It does have some filters that need to be cleaned each time but that only takes a few minutes.

The previous reviwer got a lemon...sucks that he reviews such a good product like this. This drys great, doesn't need to be vented outside and is currently the only dryer of it's kind. Other sites review this dryer HIGHLY.

As the other 1 star reviewer stated, the inside components of this dryer are very flimsy. Opened the back of my dryer the day I received it and belt was dislodged, motor arm bent, and the pulley assembly snapped into 3 pieces. This would have fit perfectly in my laundry closet, but unfortunately I cannot find it locally and I do not trust it being shipped again. The packaging for this dryer was laughable. 1/2 inch of styrafoam on the edges and nothing guarding the front or back.

Buy at your own risk and cross your fingers that the shippers treat it like fine china because the packing is not suitable for a product like this.

I've had it for 2 months, and it works great. One irritation though, the lint trap. It's just takes to long to clean after every time you use the dryer. It's not horrible, but the design could be better.

This little dryer works as well as the previous full-sized one I've used in the past. I can fit five large child-sized jeans and a couple of shirts in one load. I've got an Avanti washer too -- the clothes are spun quite dry, so drying time is not a problem. The lint catcher is a bit of a hassle, but not a big one. You have to do a two-hand pull while kneeling on the floor. I've solved the venting problem by putting the dryer in the bathroom and using the fan simultaneously. The dryer is quite light also, which makes it easy to slide around. Noise level is average. I'd recommend you place it away from where you regularly lounge... it's about as loud as a dishwasher.

There're numerous attributes about the Avanti portable dryer model, D-110-1 and some not so great. First, the unit is very light weight (40 lbs) which makes it very portable. I purchased a dryer venting box for inside venting, but found I didn't need it. This unit doesn't put off much heat or moisture(less than a small pot of boiling water) or lint, since it has duel filters(more on these later). The amount of heat is much less than a full size dryer yet gets the clothes dry in a gentle but fairly decent time frame. It helps to dry, similar materials together, keeping in mind jeans will take a bit longer. Clothes come out wrinkle free, and not burning hot like larger dryers, which means much less damage to your clothes. It's a fairly impressive dryer. Never over-fill the dryer, clothes will not dry in a timely fashion. The dryer does not have a dryer signal to alert you upon completion of the cycle. But it does have Hot, Warm and Air Only cycle plus a cool down setting to keep your clothes from wrinkling if you don't get to it right away. All the bells and whistles my full size had.

Upon initial install the unit gave a horrible screeching sound, I pulled the back off and discovered the belt(very thin one) was not on properly, made adjustment. It appeared to be fixed but soon after unit once again would squeak and squeal, making it impossible to be in the room when it was running. Four months into use, the noise went away on it's own.

The dryers filter system is somewhat daunting but it does serve a purpose to keep lint out of your house, if you choose indoor venting. There are several layers of filters and one that will need to be replaced after some time is a wool like material that after five months of use. I've had a difficult time finding replacements. I've searched the web, to make sure I had extra parts on hand like extra belts since the one that drives the unit is very thin. I've not found any parts houses that carry Avanti parts and the manual does not provide buyers with a parts list or schematic. Making parts identification difficult. I did find a similar "filter" material at the fabric store and made my own, and they seem to work better. I discovered the Avanti filter is the same as the Haier HLP140E portable dryer filter.

All in all I really love the convenience and appearance of the Avanti dryer. And hope they have better availability for parts and filters in the future. I took off one star for the noise and poor parts availability.

UPDATE: 12/28/11, After locating a parts (blowout) list, for this dryer. I made an attempt to order extra replacement parts, via Avanti. Ordering the parts from the number in the included catalog was straight forward, but after a month of waiting for "in-stock" parts I called once again to check the status, and got the run around. I waited another two weeks, and still no parts. When I called the third time, I was told they "just" were put into stock that moment, and they would "expedite" the shipment. While I was not impressed with the Parts availability from the start, I was really let down by the delay and run-around the parts department gave me. I even lessened the amount of filters and belts I ordered to assure quicker delivery, since the parts department informed me of the total number they had in stock. I think, I'll buy my filters and parts via Haier rather than Avanti, since they are the exact same part, but different makers. Avanti needs better service badly.

Those of you needing Filter replacement, here are the part numbers and description of each filter.
There are actually three "filters"
1. Small one at the door latch, called "air inlet filter"

2. The tighter mesh screen inside the plastic circle, called "filter"

3. Wool like fabric against the tub on back wall. called, "filter of inner tub"

Dryer itself is bigger then expected, works super super great. Anouther great thing it dosen't have the annoying ringing bell sound when clothes are done which is great when you have babies sleeping in house. Bad news 2 things: 1. Delivery service is HORRIBLE!! they didn't even bother to ring our bell and left this outside our house in the middle of Chicago, how it did not get stolen is amazing. 2.The clear part of the door is plastic and gives off a bad smell that I'm sure is toxic when you are doing laundry. Solve this problem by putting the dryer in a seperate room of the house such a bedroom where you can have the window in there open and the burnt plastic smell not smelling up and poisioning the rest of the house, and boom problem solved and perfect dryer!! Oh and for the life of me I don't know what these people are talking about when they say it is hard to clean the lint trap, like every lint tray on earth you pull it out, you clean it you put it back in. Takes about 25seconds, easy done.

This little dryer is terrific! It's not heavy, so I have it sitting in my spare bedroom on top of the dresser. It operates quietly, and does a good job. My clothes don't feel over dried like they sometimes do in the big coin operated machines in my condo basement. I like the window in the door. Easy set up--take it out of the box, snap the little plastic piece on the back the prevents the hot air from blowing staight backwards on, plug it in, dry clothes! I love it!

I am so furious with my purchase. While the size and capabilities of this dryer make for convenient apartment living, the dryer broke after a month of average use. I called the recommended repair service and after months and months of waiting for various parts to come in, I am completely fed up and ready to purchase a new dryer and throw this piece of cr*p out the window. Don't waste your money on this.
