This product works very well for a small footprint.

Pairing is easy - it works just like other Bluetooth devices such as pairing a Bluetooth speaker with your phone.

There is a very slight learning curve to time it right, but it's still easy.

I have had the Advantalk for about 3 months now. I got it so that I could use my nice, comfortable set of earphones without being tied down. It worked fine for about 2 1/2 months then stopped working. Computers can no longer find the device. I am pretty sure that the BTTC-200 is the problem, as I have replicated the problem with 2 different operating systems and 2 different computers that work fine with other bluetooth devices. The online support seems to be limited to online tutorials for idiots. Definitely not worth the money.

Added 1/13/12 - Dakota Trading (seller) called me up on 1/10 and told me that they had read my original negative review and sent a replacement. 2 days later I received a new unit and, as I type this, am listening to music over headphones plugged into the BTTC-200. Only time will tell as to whether my first faulty unit was a fluke or not. I'll try to review it again in 3 months. What I can do is compliment Dakota on their customer support. I did not even contact them. They responded on their own to show that they back up their products. I can't figure how to give a 5 star rating to Dakota and a 3 star rating to the BTTC-200, so I will just give a blended rating (4 stars). Thanks again, Dakota! To whoever produces the BTTC-200, beef up your online support and QA!!

Added 5/7/12 - BTTC-200 is still working. Although I sometimes have to delete and re-add the bluetooth connection(which might be my computer software's fault), it has been pretty reliable. I guess the first one was a fluke. Thanks again to the seller.

I've received two of these units as a replacement of the previous "saturn" model from Avantree. They are physically identical to the previous ones, retain all the good points (pair easily, small, light, etc) and also SOLVE the two main issues which made the previous ones quite inconvenient to be used for listening TV. More specifically, audio is no longer cut out when the volume is somewhat low and I can use them powered by the USB port of my TV without causing any additional noise. Also I didn't experience any inappropriate auto power-off with this new model. My compliments also for the excellent customer service.
My only remaining wish is for an auto-power-on feature when connected to an USB port.

I broke the usb connection. My fault. The product worked great except the charge didn't last long enough in my opinion. 4-5 hours of steady use before needing recharge.

I got one of these to connect my home stereo to have it sometimes in Tx mode and other times in Rx mode. First of all, this thing is very small, way smaller than the picture leads you to believe. Another thing I was surprised is that it has a built-in battery so you can use it without being connected to a USB power source. I guess I didn't read the description completely, but since I have it in a fixed location all the time, it is permanently connected to USB, so I really don't plan on use it on battery. I use Rx mode most of the times to listen to whatever is playing on my iPhone on my home stereo and I've found that the volume is way too low and I have to crank my amplifier all the way to hear decent volume. The sound quality is very good, no complaints there, I just wish the signal that goes to my stereo was louder. My other complaint is that there is only one 3.5mm audio jack for both audio in and out. This means that every time I change modes to Rx or Tx, I have to change my audio connection in my stereo. If it had two 3.5mm jacks, one dedicated for input and another one for output, it would be so much easier to switch between Rx and Tx modes. Since I have it connected to the back of my stereo which is inside a cabinet, this means that whenever I switch modes, I have to open the cabinet, and remove the receiver from the shelf so I can reach the back connections. I realize that both in and out will never be active at the same time so for the sake of space they combined in and out in just one jack, but it creates an inconvenience for the user because changing between Tx and Rx is not as simple as flipping a switch.

On a more positive note, I know that WiFi causes interference with Bluetooth devices, and I was afraid that since my WiFi router is so close to my stereo, I was going to have audio problems with this Bluetooth gadget. Well, it turns out that I have no problems at all with breakups or interference from my WiFi router which is a nice plus.

Hi, Mario

Thanks so much for the feedback! Very helpful indeed.

Volume issue - Our engineer is actually working on that issue right now and we should make it perfectly loud from next batch.
3.5mm Jack issue - great idea! we will surely separate them in the next development.
Permanent on power - you can actually use another product - Roxa as permanent on power receiver and use Saturn for Transmitter. Will this solve the switch problem?

Love to have you on our testing board and you will receive our next development free of charge to test. Contact Avantree support for that?

Thanks

Phoebe

I received one of these as a review sample and was able to do things with it and another (different brand) receiver that has made life simpler.

Specifically I put this in transmitter mode (a simple switch setting does it), then connect to record out on my powered PA mixer. After pairing this to a bluetooth receiver I was able to connect to a POWERWERKS PW4P 50Watt PA Monitor Stage Subwoofer using an adapter for the receiver. No wires to trip over!

These are by no means limited to how I am using mine. You can bluetooth enable any legacy device that has a 3.5mm phone jack, for example, or even a 1/4 phone out with a 3.5mm to 1/4 adapter. This device comes with a 3.5mm cable and an adapter that lets you convert that into dual RCA males. One of the best examples of what you can do with a pair of these is in the manual: transmit from a TV, via bluetooth, to a pair of headphones even if both were designed for hardwired connections.

This can be placed in either transmit or receive mode, so a pair of them will allow you to eliminate wires as long as you do not exceed the limitations of bluetooth itself (distance, line of sight, etc.) Die to the nature of this dual mode Tx/Rx, it will not automatically broadcast itself when in transmit mode. You need to use the multi-function button to place it in Tx or Rx, depending on your switch setting, and use visual cues from the LED flashing speed and color to determine when you have them paired and connected. There is a very slight learning curve to time it right, but it's still easy.

The world is awash with bluetooth receivers, so having a device that will either receive or transmit is a genuine solution for some problems. If you have questions please do not hesitate to ask via a comment below. I'll be more than happy to answer to the best of my ability.
