5.0 out of 5 stars Your own personal Banshee
The Banshees were my favorite creatures in the movie, so I had to get this when I found it.

Pros: Very detailed, about a 13" wingspan, with beautiful markings. It comes with a nice stand, for when it's not flying about and terrorizing my... I mean, your family and friends. It seems pretty durable too, because it is made of a tough plastic like a bike helmet...

3.0 out of 5 stars Superhuman strength required for assembly
A well detailed representation of a banshee...however be prepared for an interesting assembly experience. The neck on our banshee will NOT go onto the body, no matter how much I wrestle with it. I tried shaving down the four little "bumps" on the neck support tab with a knife in an attempt to get the neck on. No go. So I got out the super glue and have glued the neck on...

5.0 out of 5 stars Your own personal Banshee, December 22, 2009

The Banshees were my favorite creatures in the movie, so I had to get this when I found it.

Pros: Very detailed, about a 13" wingspan, with beautiful markings. It comes with a nice stand, for when it's not flying about and terrorizing my... I mean, your family and friends. It seems pretty durable too, because it is made of a tough plastic like a bike helmet. It could probably withstand being dropped numerous times. The only parts that move are the neck and the head.

Cons: You do have to assemble it, so a little bit of patience is necessary. Once it's assembled though, it's staying that way. It's hard to make the Neytiri figure I have ride it, partially because the antennae-things get in the way.

I can't comment on the i-Tag, because I don't have a webcam and can't access it.

Despite being in college, I've been having a lot of fun actually playing with this. I suspended it from a stick with some fishing line and have been flying it around marionette-style, using it to buzz my pets and family. I plan on suspending it from my ceiling at college, so it can "fly" above my by bed while I sleep.

I've seen on the i-Tag website that there are plans to release Tsu'tey's Banshee as well. Because I like this one so much, I'd buy that as soon as it comes out. I hope they also make Neytiri's Banshee (it has nice markings).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Avatar figure, November 15, 2009
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Avatar Na'vi Mountain Banshee Creature (Toy)
Being a collector of all things creature in the was or toys and figures, i was very excited for these Avatar creature action figures. This Banshee figure has a great mold showing detail (especially in the face) and lovely anatomy. The body has a almost entirely colored teal paint job is unexciting while the darker markings are wonderfully detailed. He is very poss-able (both sets of wing can be moved up and down) and comes with a clear display stand which hold him sturdily. However his mouth is stuck in a open position.
My only disappointment is the lack of a detailed paint job on the face. What looks to be a second set of smaller eyes behind the main ones are uncolored. So it's like they aren't even there! The teeth as well are the same color as the gums, while they are supposed to be black (as i saw in the trailer).

Great figure over all!

Although I hated the movie Avatar, I loved the effort the artists (and even the director) put into the design of the ships, vehicles and the banshee flying dragons/pterodactyls. So how does this toy stack up?

PROS:
-It looks beautiful facing you, and any angle that lets you see the top details.
-It looks incredibly accurate to the movie.
-Durable
-Large, so great value for money.
-A nice clear base that holds the banshee very well.
-The tips of the large wings are clear, and it looks amazing and is a great little detail.

CONS:
-Call Superman to help you assemble it. And keep your hands nice and dry and clean, or else your hands might slip before you get a piece snapped in.
-Articulation is very limited by the design of the back wings. You can sort of move the wings up or down, but it's a hassle.
-The neck only moves up and down, and the mouth stays open permanently. The tail doesn't move at all.
-The base is fixed so that you cannot rotate the banshee in any direction you want it displayed in.
-Only the top and torso/neck/head are detailed. The rest of the underside is only painted the base color of the body.

For me, the cons are minor, and since I only plan on keeping this for display, my gripe is with having a base that doesn't let me angle the banshee up like it's climbing or down like it's about to attack or bank or something. But for the price, I am more than happy to have one. If I have the money, I may get more if they come in different colors.

My son just turned 3 so durability is definitely something I look for. This toy is fun to play with even for me and I'm 26! This is a great buy. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 10.

It is still drying so I hope it will work. Everything else went together OK, but be prepared it is not for children to assemble.

I just got the Avatar Banshee Creature and have it suspended from my shelf. It's a very durable, beautifully marked figure. Probably more appropriate for adults than small children although it snaps together tightly and is made of solid plastic so should withstand rough play. My only complaint is that I read the product description as saying the figure would have bioluminescence, however, this figure does not. The Avatar Jake Sully has bioluminescent dots but neither the Mountain Banshee nor the Leonopteryx have this. I think that the comment about bioluminescence refers to the Na'vi figures not the creatures but was left in for all product descriptions. I find this misleading but lack of bioluminescence doesn't detract from an otherwise fun and detailed toy.

I'm not sure how they counted 20 points of articulation on this... The wings are so close together that the top ones can't actually pivot as they are supposed to (and as they do on the larger orange version of this). The head can turn and the neck goes up and down, but that's about it...

Not a great fit on where the wings meet the body, again, something that was done better on the larger orange version.

It comes with a clear plastic base and stand, but the stand has little bulges that snap into place inside the belly of this to hold it, and i'm not sure how long that's going to be good, it almost feels like something will break when you pull it out.

Colors are a little dull, and i was disappointed that the mouth doesn't open and close - it's permanently in that wide open position.

The fit and lack of any real articulation other than the neck are what brought the rating down, since it *is* surprisingly solid otherwise in feel and quality.

This banshee from the film avatar is a great toy for kids and also a cool figure to own. the only problem i have with this toy is that it seems to be able to be broken easily and it is also difficult to snap on, but once it is all but together it seems very durable for a kid and it is very articulated for a collector
