This review is from: Avayon DXP-10P 10 inch Widescreen Portable DVD Player With Video CD And DIVX Playback (Electronics)
The first Avayon I bought was a DXP1000 standard sized player that I bought for myself. I liked it well enough that when my mom's DVD player broke, I bought her a DXP1000 as a replacement.A few months after that I decided to replace my clunky old Polaroid 5" DVD player with the Avayon DXP-10P. The amazing thing (to me) is that the DXP-10P is only slightly physically larger than my original Polaroid player. The 10.2" screen is clear and bright and the volume and other controls are logically laid out. You can play a wide variety of media on it, including DIVX files. My favorite feature is the USB input. I can copy files onto a standard USB flash drive and play them with the DXP-10P without having to bother burning anything to a CD or DVD. It also has a memory slot for digital photos but I haven't tried that. In the time I've been an Avayon customer, I've had to use their customer service twice. On both ocasions, I was treated to a quick response from an actual human that solved my problem instead of emailing me boilerplate. The product is great, and the service is outstanding.

I've had this player for about 1 year already. When I purchased this unit, it was one of the few portable 10" DivX players on the market; therefore making this unit overpriced ($400).Pros: 1. Plays about 95% of my DivX and XviD content. 2. Easily the large screen. 3. The portability of this unit comes equipped with the essential traveling accessories. 4. The built-in speakers is pretty loud but the quality could definitely use some improvement. 5. The weight and size is great for airplane travel. Cons: 1. The subtitle are in yellow only. Some other brand's unit uses a white-lettering with black outline. The yellow-only subtitle makes it difficult to read. 2. If you have multiple files (i.e. MP3 on a CD) the filenames cannot be too long or repetitive. The filenames get truncated on the menu screen when you are listing the contents; therefore you'll get short names that aren't very descriptive. 3. The remote is not backlit. Some people just like to use their unit in a darker environment. 4. The battery could last a bit longer. |
