The Avengers Original Score provides feeling for every moment in the movie. The movie was absolutely terrible but John McNeeley's score lived up to many expectations. A brilliant recording although not quite good enough to tip the final star.

While I was dissapointed in the story of the movie, I was impressed with the score. I abhore the titles released as "soundtracks" when truly only one or two songs can be found from the film. I enjoyed the score in the theater and now I enjoy it at home. The music is an interesting mix of standard orchestra with some additions of electronic instruments. While the mixture may sound strange, the two go very well together in the majority of the tracks. Overall, it is very enjoyable.

From the first, whether watching "The Avengers" in the theater or listening via headphones, Mr McNeely's score is both haunting & captivating, providing a dash of charm & style as Steed & Mrs Peel deserve. For those of you out there who've been waiting for the REAL "soundtrack" (as I have), you will not be disappointed. I'm still of the opinion that WB made a huge mistake in releasing that laughably mistitled dreck ("music from & inspired by"... inDEED!), but they've corrected their mistake by allowing video- & audiophiles alike a chance to hear the wonderful score with which Mr McNeely graced "The Avengers" motion picture. Thank you, WB, & all out there... ENJOY!

This CD was awsome and the movie was cool. This music goes right along with the movie. Joel McNeely is one of my favorite composers. His mix of instramental and electric music was great. It wasn't the exact music that was on the movie, but that's ok. The best song on it is the Main Title. John Steed, I presume? deservs an honorable mension. This is one of the best soundtracks in my collection. I highly recomend this CD to everyone.

The Avengers movie was widely panned when it was released (much to my dissapointment - it is fun). However, its score was one of the few things most people agree on as being one of the pluses.

The score uses a full orchestra and some clever mixing to create a fun, vibrant feel, and in this reviewer's opinion, it's a very good buy. Its rarity means that it also makes a good collector's item.

If you loved The Avengers, you've probably already got this (and if you haven't, what are you waiting for?). If you hated it, then you'll ne'er spend another penny on anything to do with it. If you just like soundtracks in general, it's certainly worth a look.

Okay--I am convinced more than ever that these "reviews" are plants from record labels--whose sole purpose is marketing propaganda to enhance the record sales. Not all CD can be the "best ever", 5 stars, or be universally loved by all who hear it. I like soundtracks and have been disheartened with the trend to release "soundtracks" which contain "music inspired from the motion picture" and not original score music. Sometimes, the music on these "inspired by" soundtrack really suck. (See Horse Whisperer) But the the various artists soundtrack cd from Avengers is not one of them. It is a good CD---even though the selected music wasn't part of the movie experience. (but I guess studio had to re-coup some money somehow since the movie bombed.) However I eagerly purchased the original score CD anticipating some quality orchestrations or at least musical instrumentations but got neither. This cd is a real disappointment. And not worth a listen let alone the money. want a good original score CD? well--this ain't it.
