Great Book,

This review is from: New Avengers, Vol. 3 (Hardcover)
I give this book full grades based upon the Confession chapter alone. Iron Man's heart-breaking admission to the body of his friend, Steve Rogers, is one of the best written, most touching pieces that I have had the fortune of reading. The Hawkeye chapter, as well, was just beautiful: the art and the story. Some of the artwork in the civil war portion is hit and miss (Captain America I am talking to you), but most stories are well developed and expertly drawn. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next one.

Compilation comic,

This review is from: New Avengers, Vol. 3 (Hardcover)
For the uninitiated reader, this comic will only confuse. Don't expect a running plot.
This comic appears to be a compilation of sub-plots all relating to the New Avengers and some on-going cataclysmic events Civil War. Various artists are featured with jarring disconnect in their styles. I think this is a comic's companion to someone reading a running series on the New Avengers to give themselves a foretaste of what's happening in other parts of the Marvel Universe (and what issues they are missing...:)). |
