These were the original grips installed on my 2008 Raleigh hybrid bicycle which uses Shimano Revo Twist Grip shifters. And they have held up very well. So why buy new ones? Like an idiot, I got caught in the rain & did not wipe down the handlebar good enough to remove all moisture. They started to rust & the rust spread. I tried everything, S.O.S. pads, emery cloth, even coating the handlebar with clear coat nail polish. The rust kept coming. So, I ordered a new alloy handlebar through my local bike shop (no rust with alloy).

If something works - you stick with it. My Raleigh is now pushing 2,000 miles & the old grips showed little sign of wear. Caution: If your bike has trigger shifters, you may want to go with these Avenir Comfy Soft Grips (Black/Grey, 137mm). These grips come on a lot of Raleigh & Diamondback bikes with Shimano ST-EF50 8spd Shift/Brake Lever Set Black. Make sure you order the correct grips for your type of bike.

4.0 out of 5 stars good grips., July 28, 2009
This review is from: Avenir 3D Comfort Grips (Black/Grey, 130mm) (Sports)
these grips are firm and comfortable. they aren't too soft, and they aren't too tough either. they are really enjoyable and easy to hold on to. the only gripe i have about them is that when used frequently the thin rubber skin surrounding them rubs off on your hands and leaves rubber residue. easily wiped off, though. NOTE- these fit on razor scooter bars.

My son loves the new grips that he got for his mountain bike. He says that they are very soft and comfortable when riding. I strongly recommend using soapy water when installing them. The soapy water should feel slippery if sprayed on your hand. I didn't have enough soap in the water when I installed the first grip and nearly peeled the skin off my hands trying to install it.

Well I think these grips are pretty good. Comfortable at a cheap price. I tend to have my wrist hurt after riding for 20 or 30 minutes, but these grips surprisingly felt pretty good. One thing is they are very hard and annoying to put on, I ended up putting WD40 on the bar and in the grips. Overall I say get em. It's a good price for fairly good grips.

These are far better grips than the ones I had on my bike. However, I would still recommend riding gloves if you have them as the design on the top can become uncomfortable after riding for a while.
