5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
I actually got these as a replacement for my hybrid bike. My original pedals have spikes on them and I still have scars on my right shin from the spikes hitting them when I position the pedals. Because these are smooth, they don't hold your feet as securely but I ride my hybrid mainly on flat surface roads so I don't foresee any traction problems. So far, I like them very...

I slightly agree with the other review..."have no grip what so ever on top making even the slightest amount of moisture on your shoes or bump in the road a real hazard!"

If it rains, they do become kind of slick. But a bump in the road...NOPE! I have to disagree on that. My plain old K-Mart sneakers stay glued to these pedals in dry weather. These pedals...

If it rains, they do become kind of slick. But a bump in the road...NOPE! I have to disagree on that. My plain old K-Mart sneakers stay glued to these pedals in dry weather. These pedals were made for a comfort or hybrid bike; not for a mountain bike. I have had no problem with them, with the one exception of rain. Very comfortable pedal for this old fat man.

Because these are smooth, they don't hold your feet as securely but I ride my hybrid mainly on flat surface roads so I don't foresee any traction problems. So far, I like them very much, they're very comfortable. I think Avenir could have made them a little wider, but that's a minor quibble.

2.0 out of 5 stars These suck., May 20, 2011

These came on my Diamondback bike. I absolutely love the bike but just hated these pedals. I bought the bike about 9 months ago at the end of summer and whatever roughness there was on them quickly wore down. To the point where any moisture getting on the pedals combined with any aversive action or bumpy riding would make the situation potentially dangerous. They only cost a few dollars for a reason, lol... I've replaced them with a pair of much nicer pedals that were $30 but have pins on them to hold my feet in place without question. I would suggest you do the same and stay away from these things.

If you're just riding a beach cruiser on flat surfaces like a paved bike path 100% of the time, these would be ok at best, there's still better choices out there for nominally more $ IMO.

I purchased a Diamondback bicycle and it came with a set of thse pedals. When I got a bike for my wife, I ordered a set for her too. I like that they are large and no spiked or rough edges. They have plenty of grip without being dangerous.

1.0 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!, July 14, 2009
This review is from: Avenir Comfort Pedals (Sports)
These came as standard equipment on a $500 Raleigh hybrid bike I bought not so long ago. Why Raleigh would put these on anything bigger and faster than a child's tricycle is beyond me. They are made of cheap hollow plastic and have no grip what so ever on top making even the slightest amount of moisture on your shoes or bump in the road a real hazard! There may be cheaper pedals out there for all I know but for only a few bucks more you can get something made out of alloy with a metal shaft and some spikes or texture for traction. Then you will be way ahead of the game compared to these.
