A decent bike rack,
This review is from: Avenir Rear ATB Rack (Sports)
This is a decent MTB rack. Just basic, nothing fancy. The only problem I had with it was the included hardware. My bike does not have braze-ons for the upper rack mounting point; so I have to use clamps. The clamps that are include with the rack are to small for a MTN bike. They might might work on a road bike, but the MTN bike frame is to thick to use them. I had to use some larger clamps (size 13) that I had in my stash to mount it on my MTN bike.

Seems like a strong lightweight rack. Finish is good and comes with adequate mounting hardware. Had to bend one of the brackets to make it work but fits my old Schwinn Varsity Road bike just fine. Fits great over 27" Wheels.

This rack is easy to install and is stable and light weight. This is the second rack I purchased of the same brand. No complains so far.

I bought this in silver and have no real problems with it. It attached securely and doesn't rattle. It took maybe 10 minutes to properly set up needing only a wrench and a screwdriver. My one problem is that my panniers won't stay on because the attachment hooks towards the bottom are too short.

Very nice bike rack. Light but stable. As with ever rack I have come in contact with the installation instructions are non-existant but able to get it installed with no extra drilling (have a ~7yr old Raleigh hybrid).

I have a have a women's comfort bike with larger wheels (26 inch I think), and this bike rack doesn't fit. It does however fit on my husband's commuter style bike with the same size wheels. The quality seems good, and it came with all the pieces to hook it up... just didn't work with my bike.

I haven't owned a rear rack before, so I figured, at half the price of the Topeak, this would probably be sufficient for one season of commuting. It's ok, but I'd recommend spending a bit more for a nicer item.It fits my mountain bike fine, and it came with clamps if it didn't work(the Topeak doesn't, so if you don't have mounts, factor that in.) Inexplicably, however, they included the wrong nut for the bolts that attach the rack to the stays - lock nuts, which made it impossible to tighten the stays sufficiently. Inconveniently, Home Depot was sold out of nuts for the proper screw, and later that day, the rack, which was fairly unsteady, fell out and crashed behind my bike. I shouldn't have had a bag on it (and my laptop was fine, fortunately) but the issue shouldn't have been there in the first place. I've "fixed" it by attaching it to the seat with a short bungee cord, which makes the rack usable, but the swaying loosened one of the bolts that attached the bottom of the rack to the bike, causing one side to come off and scrape along my gears. I replaced the screw, and, again, I shouldn't have been using the rack at all until I purchased the right nuts, but it's very frustrating to own something and not be able to use it. The seam along the top, where the metal pipe joins, has started to bend apart slightly. I carry a laptop and a few books. The rack is rated at 10lbs, which is honestly very little, and you'll probably carry more weight than that frequently. My bag can't be much more than 10lbs, either, so that seems to be a hard limit. Though the item is cheap, it's also not a great buy. It works fine, and it's better than no rack at all, but when this thing gives out I'm just going to buy a Topeak and save myself a lot of headache.

Lets just say for 17 green backs, wadda'ya spect? I use it with a 10 year old 26" Fuji mountain bike.Good stuff: solid aluminum welds, balanced on bike, works well on bikes which don't have a built-in mount system or with braze-ons, adds a fender kinda feature due to it's closed platform, great price, lightweight, would work with a lighter set of Panniers and trunk bag. Cons: no real place to mount a reflector or light; mounting is doable, but will take some minor adjustments and maybe a add-on from your local hardware store. I'm not sure the lock-nuts and bolts are stainless (don't over-tighten); it doesn't rain where I live, so rusting hasn't been a problem. I carry a trunk-bag, it attaches with 2 velcro straps from the base...no issues all is good! I bought the aluminum finish because I know black paint would take a beating on a mountain bike.

I got the silver Avenir Rear ATB Rack for an older Specialized Rockhopper and it took all of 5 minutes to have a nice solid rack for attaching my new Avenir Rack-top bag. The rack came with all the bolts necessary to attach to my bike, including a couple clamps that could be used if your bike did not have the proper connections on the frame already. Since my bike already had the bolt holes on the frame, attaching the rack was a cinch. I appreciated that the rack came with clear instructions for mounting and the bolts were regular phillips-head bolts that could be turned with a regular screw driver (no hunting for the right size American or Metric hex wrenches!) I got the silver Avenir rack since it was cheaper and I could not think of a reason to pay more for a black rack. My other bike has a similar black rack, which is less conspicuous, but eventually the black paint does chip and fall off here and there revealing the silver aluminum underneath anyway. For the $17 price I paid on Amazon I don't think you can go wrong with this rack.
