I used this tool to attach a Shimano BB-5500 bottom bracket. It works on both cups, left and right. No other tool is needed. It has a square cut-out for a 1/2" drive ratchet. It also has a hole drilled at the collar to fit a pry bar such as a big screw driver. WORTH IT! BTW: Niagara Cycle is a terrific dealer and highly recommended.

This tool worked great on the left (non-drive) side of my 121 mm spline on my Bottom Bracket. The tool bottomed out on the right (drive) side and I had to purchase another 32 mm BB tool that slipped over the spline to finish the job. A spline length limitation warning would have saved me time, money, and a great deal of frustration from my ignorance. It should work on shorter splines, but alas I will probably never know.

Good tool. After only one use, it wore out quickly but amazon replaced it. It seems durable enough for a job on a well serviced bottom bracket.

I had a hard time getting this tool to stay in place on a tight bottom bracket. It slipped and stripped the BB cup a little. The Shimano version has a lip that makes slippage less likely.
