The first time we used the trailer was for Bike the Drive in Chicago. Imagine getting a 13-month-old out of bed at 4:50 AM to go for a 30 mile bike ride. Not ideal under any circumstances, but the possibility of him not liking the trailer had me very nervous about the entire endeavor. Thankfully the trailer is quick to set up and attach to a bike, and it clamps on to the rear of the frame on the non-drive side. We had it broken completely down to store in the garage, and it pops up and together in seconds. It's quick but it feels very sturdy too, which is comforting.
Once we got moving our little guy really seemed to enjoy the ride, the only time he got fussy was when I stopped to let some of our group catch up. There's plenty of room for some snacks and toys in the seat with him, and as long as we were moving he was happy. There's also a small storage area between the seat-back and back of the trailer that had enough room for our diaper bag without impeding on his space in the seat. Space-wise this has plenty of room.
It wasn't easy riding with an extra 25+ pounds, but the ride quality was surprisingly smooth.Read more ›
P.S may not make a good stroller for use in crowds as the hitch sticks out a bit. Maybe a flag on the hitch would work so you don't ram into any shins.
We purchased for our 2 kids - a 3 1/2 yr old and a 1 yr old. They both fit in it well together with backback in the back, sippy cups and snack cups beside. Plenty of space! Plenty tall for the 3 1/2 yr old.
Sides and cover are great. The roll down cover is nice: either screen or 'plastic'. Sides have clear plastic. It would be nice if I could get side venting for when you sit still or use it as a stroller.
The trailer roles really well on the back wheels - very easy to pull (except the added weight of the kid) and push. We use as a stroller as well, which leads to 1 little downside:
-the front wheel works ok, but is not very large and doesn't wheel that great. Ok for walking for sure, would not be great for walking.
-The front 'connection' for the bike sticks out a long ways. Obviously designed for the bike trailer aspect (duh) - but as a stroller it hangs out a ways. Great for open areas, bad for tight spaces.
-The front connection that the front wheel mounts on tends to have some 'slack' between the trailer and the connection. This allows the front wheel to 'flex' up and down just slighly relative to the trailer. Again - perfectly fine for walking around and casual stuff, bad for running!!
Behind the bike (what it was designed for):
I love it. Again, my first one so no comparison really. It pulled lightly when empty (weight of the kid is the big deal), you can turn and handle great. Very easy to hook up.Read more ›
