WONDERFUL...Can't tell you how great.,

This review is from: Avent Isis Via Breast Pump Kit (Baby Product)
This is a great pump. It gives me no problems at all. I never got a breastpump with my first daughter...she only had me! LOL Well, this time around I decided it would be a good idea so I could go exercise at the gym or not alarm the old ladies at church. I have tried an electric one and a manual one made by Evenflo and both were painful and hardly expressed any milk. The first time I used this, I immediatly had over 3 oz. My daughter was only 2 months old when I purchased (I got a NIB on eBAY) it. The Via is nice because of the option of reusing or throwing away. I love the bottle nipples...they are just like, well, nipples. LOL I only use this about once a week, but so far no problems. I would think with the easiness of it, that it would be great for working moms. Cleaning is a cinch also. Visit the Avent website because they have options to receive brochures on the Avent product lines, etc. and you also receive samples. I got a whole VIA kit for free!

Best Manual Pump Available,

I tried several pumps before buying this one. It's much easier to use, no tired arms, and it's more comfortable than most. You have to read the directions carefully regarding assembly and cleaning but it's not rocket science. It came with instructions in multiple languages so I've even purchased it for friends overseas.

Great Suction, Great Pump,
By Tara E. "Mommy to 3 boys: Cole, Hunter & Owen" (Raleigh, NC USA) - See all my reviews

Great Hand pump. Easy to use and pretty comfortable. Easy to clean and I love that the bottles as well as storage containers all fit directly onto the pump. I also had sqweekage issues but a little WD-40 and that went away. I have very large breasts and I had to hold the cup onto my breast while pumping with the other hand but as long as I held it there, I had great suction and it sucked well. I liked the suction on this better then my electric m Medela Advanced but it was nice to be able to do 2 breasts at once with that electric one. I did love this pump and I will surely use it next time as well.

Easiest and fastest way to express lots of milk.,

I decided the moment I got pregnant that I would breastfeed our child, so we bought the Medela Pump In Style. After trying fairly unsuccessfully to pump milk I went looking for advice from BTDT moms. All recommended the Isis. The first time I used it I got about 4 ounces of milk and my daughter was only 6 weeks old. I found that with the Isis I could determine the pressure and frequency of the suction that best suited the flow of my milk. With the automatic pump, the suction cycle ended just as the milk was starting to flow. Not only could I get a lot of milk, but it flowed so quickly that it took less than half the time of the electric pump (and a very high quality pump at that!) I highly recommend the Isis... I will admit that cleaning it isn't the most fun and that it can be frustrating that you MUST have the petal liner on the pump securely fastened in order to get suction, but overall this pump is AWESOME.

A working mom's wonder,

I had to take the time and recommend this product to any mom who must return to work but wants to continue to breast feed. I used an electic pump (much more expensive) with my daughter and had a horrible experience, it was loud and took FOREVER to express milk. But the ISIS pump is a wonder, I am currently using it with my son and can not say enough good things about it. I plan on breast feeding him for the whole 1st year since this pump is just so easy to use!

First and only breast pump ever used!,

I was new to the whole mom and nursing scene, and heard horror stories about both manual and electric pumps. I saw this pump one day and threw it on my registry. I recieved it, used it, and was suprised at how comfortable it was. Didn't hurt at all!
I loved how you could use these containers and as bottles as well! The screw on lid was a plus (no accidents and then thinking, back to the drawing board!) Even though containers are said to be sterilized, I did that anyway when I sterilized the pump for the first time. Unfortunately, I can no longer breast feed, but was able to freeze the containers for future feedings. I also use the containers as a cereal bowl, and in the future to store her homemade baby food and as snack cups... 5 stars

Not great out of the box...but good overall,

I had a horrible time at first trying to get any milk out with this pump. A friend recomended it, saying it worked great for her and since she is a lactation consultant I figured I could trust her advice. Well, after pumping for 15 minutes without even a drop of milk, I gave up thinking I was out $50. Then I called her and she recommended I take the "letdown shield" off (it comes assembled with it on.) After I did what she suggested, it was a totally different machine! Wow, I got 4 ounces in 5 minutes! I typically have a fast letdown, so this is what I normaly get with my medela. So I really love it now! If you already have one, and haven't had any luck with it, try taking off that shield. I had no idea it would make that big of a difference, but it did. :)

SECOND TIME AROUND,

I used this breast pump three and a half years ago with my first son. I was able to pump/store milk in order to return to work. This pump was very easy to use compared to the ones in most hospitals. Therefore I will be purchasing another one for my baby due in November. I highly recommend this and any Avent product to any mother who plans on returning to work before she stops breastfeeding.

good little pump,

I bought this pump because my electric (a hand me down) works sporadically and I didn't want to spend $300 for a new one.
I was leery when I read some reviews, especially the one saying it didn't work if you're larger than an A engorged. I was a 36 DD/DDD before I my pregnancy so you have an idea of where I am breastfeeding. This little pump works GREAT. A few cons: -It does squeak. I use it straight out of the sterilizer and it's better. -It does leak by the cup...but so did the electric. I just hold a paper towel underneath (I have to support anyway). I had one user error too. There's a piece a little smaller than a dime with a star (*)... if you don't put it in right (flat side to the bottle) you will be there forever and not get more then a few drops. It happened twice before I realized my mistake.

A little piece of advice!!!,
This review is from: Avent Isis Via Breast Pump Kit (Baby Product)
I also have an electric pump that I use on a daily basis at work, however, we travelled to Europe and the electric one was way too bulky to take and also would need an adapter to plug it in there. I packed this one instead. It was no problem to pump bottles using this pump. It assembles and diassembles easily, making cleanup a breeze. I pumped and stored into the VIA cups and although I am not using the Avent bottles, it was not that hard to pour the expressed milk into another bottle. I only have one piece of advice (the reason for four stars)...if you are a larger cup size, you may want to wet your breast with a washcloth first before you attach the pump. You will get better suction and therefore a better pumping experience! Good luck!
