***In between writing novels all I wanted was to visit my friend, Martine, enjoy the sun, the Mediterranean and the French Riviera. But then Martine insisted I come sooner to help her, saying she'd explain in more detail once I arrived. Strange things were going on in the mysterious gardens of 86 Avenue du Goulet next door. I agreed. But once there after renting this empty villa, I became ensnared in a deadly maze of misdirection, hostility, lies and a history of buried secrets and intrigue: a French gardener, a cat lady and the mysterious house of red light.

5.0 out of 5 stars The French Riviera? Pack my bags, Pierre! January 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What could be better for a writer's retreat than to rent a neighboring villa in the French Riviera next to her friends Martine ad and her husband Jean? However, Samantha soon learns that with the invitation comes a challenge as her friends ask her to help them unravel a dreadful mystery--one that involves the disappearance of pets in the neighborhood who've been buried in the garden of Sam rented villa.
Soon Sam's American lady friends arrive to share in Sam's bounty and the excitement of the French Riviera experience. All of these American friends have been part of her previous Samantha Jamison Mysteries and they are as excited about being in France as they are about the prospects of a new "caper."
There's more, of course, the American man she thought she'd left behind shows up just when she's warming up to a handsome Frenchman. And the neighbors, in spite of the loss of their own beloved pets, aren't exactly warming to the nosy American. Of course, nothing is as it seems, and Sam's investigations soon uncover hateful rumors of adultery, reputations ruined, and eventually murder.
Naturally, Samantha helps bring all these separate stories together, finding the clues that solve the mystery and it was perfectly done.
I really loved the descriptions of this part of the word--the author did a terrific job of giving us readers a traveling guide on the area, the views of the sea from the hillside homes where all the aforementioned secrets were hidden behind high walls.
I also enjoyed this author's unique and very original style, especially when her protagonist talks turns around and talks to the reader. I thought the author's clever chapter headings, i.

5.0 out of 5 stars Viva la' Samantha December 7, 2011
Format:Paperback
Another adventure with Samantha Jamison and her endearing entourage, uncovering mysteries cross the Atlantic in the beautiful country of France. This 3rd novel by Peggy Edelheit is like the first 2, hard to put down! Samantha and friends are all a hoot as they vacation and solve murder mysteries, all in the same breathe. Would love to cast these characters when the Samantha sagas become movies in the near future. Peggy Edelheit has an amazing vivid imagination as she keeps the reader on the edge of their seat till the final page. I cannot wait till novel #4 is in print for they keep getting more interesting and exciting as you come to know the array of characters as your personal friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lovely Time in the Riviera January 26, 2012
By Winslow
Format:Paperback
Peggy Edelheit's engaging, appealing characters (especially the unusual Samantha), her unique writing style, and her surprising, twisting plots are a great, fun read. This one's different from her earlier two (which I also enjoyed) in that we're swept away to a lovely village on the Riviera coast for a vacation - which of course turns out to be another mystery to solve. I enjoy being swept up into Samantha's convoluted, intriguing, humorous, kind, smart mind - and look forward to her next adventure with real pleasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars peggy edelheit did it again November 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
86 avenue du goulet was just what i expected. i enjoyed it as much as peggy edelheit's previous two books. it kept me guessing all the way. and even when i thought i was figuring it all out - there she went again in a different direction. it ended full of surprises. i was able to picture all the characters and the places they went to. i was right there with them. the dialog went so smoothly. where next? can't wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Yet!!! October 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
86 Avenue du Goulet is Samantha Jamison and her wonderful sidekicks' best caper yet! There are so many surprising twists and turns in this mystery that you need a seat belt to keep you in your chair! Never saw the end coming! I can't wait for the next adventure! Hmm, I wonder where we are going this time?! I know, but I'm not telling!

1.0 out of 5 stars One star: for me for finishing it. November 14, 2013
By Jean4
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Totally implausible, from start to finish. Loose threads, amazing (or should I say unbelievable?) coincidences, exaggerated characters... Sam dithers through the chapters, asking herself endless questions, "Who was the...?", "How did he..?", "why would she...?" This is presumably to build up suspense, but the only thing i got was a headache, as she never answers her own inquiries, but barrels on to the next improbable situation. The star I gave this book was really for myself, for finishing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hercule would be proud. November 21, 2011
Format:Paperback
Ms. Edelheit's third book is now out and does not disappoint. I'm not sure what I like most about her tales - the fact that I'm NEVER able to solve the mystery earlier than she wants me to, or the fact that the recurring characters are so much fun to accompany on their crime-solving escapades. Certainly the setting in Southern France is a big draw and the author's descriptive abilities allowed me to see the clear colours, smell the fragrances and hear the accented buzz of the coastal French cafes and squares.
My favourite fashion victim, Martha, is back to shatter the paradigm of slowing septuagenarian which she does with panache in each volume of the series.
This is a fast-paced, good old-fashioned who dunnit, or more appropriately, 'who's doin' it'. Thank you Ms. Edelheit.

More About the Author

Stop by samanthajamison.com to learn more about Peggy and her Samantha Jamison Mystery Series, Vol. 1-7 and to read her occasionally humorous blogs. She loves to hear from readers. Her whodunit mysteries are about an author, Samantha Jamison, aka Sam, who writes about how she gets caught up in mysteries of her own with a touch of humor. Peggy also wrote a true French memoir, Vol. 5.5, The Riviera Is Burning, about her own frightening experiences fleeing the French Riviera fires.
How did Peggy get started writing mysteries?
After years of mentally ignoring certain voices and their personal stories in her head that were interfering with her daily life, Peggy finally let them have their say, especially after her future protagonist, Samantha, finally gave her an ultimatum of either putting it all down on paper, or it could get ugly. Recognizing the alternative might not be pretty; Peggy finally gave in and has been fortunate enough to do so ever since. Now and then when they are all sitting around Peggy's imaginary mental table arguing with her and vying for her attention to air their grievances, Peggy still finds herself putting her foot down. After all, who's the author here, right?
Peggy's main goal is to entertain her readers with a laugh or two and hopefully distract them for a few hours getting lost in the pages of her imaginary world of her amateur sleuth, Samantha Jamison to help Sam figure out the 'whodunit'.
Peggy has three sons, lives with her husband and Miniature Schnauzer. She spends her time between Buck's County, PA and South Florida.
