THE SERIES CONTINUES...
In between writing novels, all I wanted to do was visit my friend, Martine, enjoy the sun, the Mediterranean and the French Riviera. She insisted I come sooner to help her and said she would explain in more detail upon my arrival, that strange things were going on in the mysterious gardens of 86 Avenue du Goulet. I agreed, but once there after renting this empty villa, I quickly became ensnared in a deadly maze of misdirection, hostility, lies and a history of buried secrets and intrigue, a French gardener, a cat lady and the mysterious house of red light.

#1 THE PUZZLE, #2 WITHOUT ANY WARNNG, #4 A LETHAL TIME, #5 MOUTH OF THE RAT & #5.5 FRENCH MEMOIR: THE RIVIERA IS BURNING

5.0 out of 5 stars The French Riviera? Pack my bags, Pierre! January 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
What could be better for a writer's retreat than to rent a neighboring villa in the French Riviera next to her friends Martine ad and her husband Jean? However, Samantha soon learns that with the invitation comes a challenge as her friends ask her to help them unravel a dreadful mystery--one that involves the disappearance of pets in the neighborhood who've been buried in the garden of Sam rented villa.
Soon Sam's American lady friends arrive to share in Sam's bounty and the excitement of the French Riviera experience. All of these American friends have been part of her previous Samantha Jamison Mysteries and they are as excited about being in France as they are about the prospects of a new "caper."
There's more, of course, the American man she thought she'd left behind shows up just when she's warming up to a handsome Frenchman. And the neighbors, in spite of the loss of their own beloved pets, aren't exactly warming to the nosy American. Of course, nothing is as it seems, and Sam's investigations soon uncover hateful rumors of adultery, reputations ruined, and eventually murder.
Naturally, Samantha helps bring all these separate stories together, finding the clues that solve the mystery and it was perfectly done.
I really loved the descriptions of this part of the word--the author did a terrific job of giving us readers a traveling guide on the area, the views of the sea from the hillside homes where all the aforementioned secrets were hidden behind high walls.
I also enjoyed this author's unique and very original style, especially when her protagonist talks turns around and talks to the reader. I thought the author's clever chapter headings, i.e; "The Garden Plot Deepens" and "I Paws For The Cat Lady," my favorite, "I Risk it, Task it & Take My Basket," where all fun additions to this adventurous novel.
I especially appreciated the authors choice of venue for the mystery--the juxtaposition of hill-top homes in the most desirable real-estate on earth and the miserable people whose lives were so unhappy they couldn't enjoy it--well except for Sam's American lady friends who were having the time of their lives.

A recommended and enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Over too soon! February 6, 2012
Format:Paperback
I could have continued reading this mystery for days enjoying Ms. Edelheit's vivid description of the French Riviera...sad to have finished 86 Avenue du Goulet! This thriller was nothing short of what we do for our friends....never estimate a vacation! Immediately, when Samantha was intrigued by so many unanswered questions from Martine, she just had to put her sleuthing skills to work....Brief and to the point chapters just invite you to read further and further....just a little more...waiting for the friendly Samantha Jamison entourage to make their appearance.....and they did with a French flair!!
But bones....human or animal....who was The Cat Lady?....who owned the van? Who really was Luc ?? With Martha and her colorful personality, Clay and his persistency, Sam was determined to meet her neighbors in the surrounding mountainside with their mysterious draw....Curat and Villa Palmarose had their secrets but she would not rest until they unfolded to help solve this mystery... Knowing how Ms. Edelheit surprises her readers with her "WOW" endings, (and she speaks to us often), I kept searching for clues....and came up "clueless". How could this be.... And could the mystery of what Sam is feeling for Clay beginning to unfold just as she begins to feel her independence by going to Europe alone???? Could this relationship evolve into something very real for Samantha? Could there be an analogy of the luxury that the Riviera holds to the sadness within it's grand homes?????? Isn't that what life is always telling us??? Don't judge a book by it's cover.....look inside this one for it is a winner....you will LOVE the ending... Where are we going next...packing soon? C'est bon...oui!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing your writing talents with all of us!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Viva la' Samantha December 7, 2011
Format:Paperback
Another adventure with Samantha Jamison and her endearing entourage, uncovering mysteries cross the Atlantic in the beautiful country of France. This 3rd novel by Peggy Edelheit is like the first 2, hard to put down! Samantha and friends are all a hoot as they vacation and solve murder mysteries, all in the same breathe. Would love to cast these characters when the Samantha sagas become movies in the near future. Peggy Edelheit has an amazing vivid imagination as she keeps the reader on the edge of their seat till the final page. I cannot wait till novel #4 is in print for they keep getting more interesting and exciting as you come to know the array of characters as your personal friends.

More About the Author

Peggy A. Edelheit is the author of the Samantha Jamison Mystery Series, Volumes 1-5. They are mystery/thrillers about an author, Samantha Jamison, aka Sam, who writes about how she gets caught up in mysteries of her own with a touch of humor. Peggy's latest book is Volume 5.5, a true French memoir called The Riviera Is Burning. It is about Peggy's frightening experiences as the French Riviera burned out of control threatening her villa.

After years of mentally ignoring certain voices and their personal stories in her head that were interfering with her daily life, Peggy finally let them have their say, especially after her future protagonist, Samantha, finally gave her an ultimatum of either putting it all down on paper, or it could get ugly. Recognizing the alternative might not be pretty; Peggy finally gave in and has been fortunate enough to do so ever since. Now and then when they are all sitting around Peggy's imaginary mental table arguing with her and vying for her attention to air their grievances, Peggy still finds herself putting her foot down. After all, who's the author here, right? Peggy's main goal is to entertain her readers and hopefully distract them for a few hours getting lost in the pages of her imaginary world of her amateur sleuth, Samantha Jamison. Peggy has three sons, lives with her husband and spends time between Buck's County, PA and South Florida.
