I am a child of the eighties, having grown up with Trapper-Keepers and the like. Mine were always disorganized after about the first week of school. I blame it partly on not having a system to go by to keep it neat, and partly on the binder itself. Those things just weren't designed that great.

Not this sucker. This thing ROCKS! First of all, it zips all the way around on the outside, so it keeps your papers and stuff dry, safe and it prevents them from scattering, even if a divider should break on you. It has an outer pocket on the front which is large enough for letter-sized papers and is pretty secure. The zipper is strong, secure, zips quickly & never sticks or gets caught on anything in the binder.

Inside, it's even better. It has a built-in solar calculator, places for business cards, a couple of highlighter/pen holders, and a big zippered pocket on the left-hand side, as well as another open, wide pocket (great for a book or a big thesis report). The binder rings are large, secure (I despise binder rings that break or won't click together) and hold a heck of lot of papers. I use plastic dividers with pockets, so there's even less chance of papers falling out. In the front divider pockets go homework assignments that need to be done for each subject; in the back pockets, homework assignments that are finished get placed there.

On the right-hand side of this binder is yet another full-size, unzippered pocket behind a letter-size paper pad holder. This "hides" well in the binder, so it'd be a good place to put anything that you need to be very securely stored. On a side note, I use Levenger-brand letter-size pads, which is the best paper I've ever found. The paper holder is also very sturdy and secure. The whole thing looks like it could go through a bombing and survive intact. I've had mine for three years, and it still looks brand-new. It wipes clean easily, if you do spill anything on it, inside or out. It is worth every penny. I would've been a far better, less overwhelmed & more organized student had this been in my life as a kid!

No student should be without this, but it also works great as a recipe holder. All those recipes printed off of the internet can be three-hole-punched, divided into category, and put in this binder with no worries. It folds out completely flat and holds up extremely well as a cookbook.

I also use one of these as a portable "office in a bag". In it I keep my day planner pages, this year's calendar printed out, a pad of lined paper, post-it notes, a couple of pens, a couple of highlighters, a lightweight & fun book to read, any bills to pay that can't be done online, my address & phone # list, thank-you notes w/ matching cards, business envelopes, address labels & postage stamps. This is fabulous for those times when you want to get paperwork things done & have some spare time (such as when you're on a lunch break, waiting in the doctor's office or for your kid to finish up soccer practice). The only thing that would make it more convenient in this capacity would be to have a handle on the outside. But if you're carrying it in a backpack or big messenger bag, then a strap would be unnecessary.

Update: Just wanted to say I very recently bought a new binder like this for college (my old one was being used as the aforementioned cookbook), and the new one's as first-rate as the one I bought three years ago. This is a very reputable company that makes consistently well-made products. I'm really impressed. Oh, by the way, the binder comes with a letter-sized pad of Swiss Army-brand paper. A nice touch, and it's high-quality, too.

I couldn't agree more with the previous "5 Star" comment. I've had mine for about a year and it's maintained its appeal and its exceptional functionality without any degradation. It's impressed me more than any other product of this nature. I've been an insurance agent for more than 28 years and it's soon to replace my trusty Samsonite briefcase. To that end, I've just ordered three more of these Wenger Zip-Folios and each will be used for a specific market.

I've manually inspected many brands and none, by price or quality, has compared favorably to this product.

Folio is perfect, I ordered 12 of them for a class here at the office. I have had mine for 2 years now and have had no problems at all. Really good material, and has everything you need, and has 3 rings instead of 5 found in some folders which makes hole punching a lot easier for this portfolio. Would recommend purchasing this item.

I have an avenue binder that is the worst design possible. It seems that they might actually try their products first before getting them to market. The pocket for the calculator doesn't close and the calculator falls out, the compartments for the business cards don't close and the business cards fall out. It's totally worthless!!!!!

I've had this folio for a few weeks now and I must say it's very functional. I have a bunch of Wenger products...a knapsack, overhead luggage for quick trips, soft briefcase, and a few roller luggage pieces...and this folio is on the same quality level as all the other products. It holds all the essentials (business cards, pens, markers, calculator) you need for a days work, has a rugged outer shell, the binder rings open & close firmly, and the zipper is of a better quality, so I think I have a winner here. I can see this working out for me for many years to come. My friend has one, what prompted me to buy it, and paid over $60 for it at Staples! Great value at the price point.

This zip-folio is a great quality binder. There are several pockets and places to store your stuff. Wenger also has a great warranty with their items.

This binder was given to me by my father because he had no use for it. I used it all throughout college and have used it at my new job now for a year. The only reason I am posting this review is because I am finally buying a second one . . . even though the original is hardly worn out. Wenger truly does make a superior product, so much so that it was worth my time to write a review about it!!
