This review is from: Aversion and Desire: Negotiating Muslim Female Identity in the Diaspora (Paperback)
This is one of the very few qualitative studies of Muslim women in the diaspora - and it's by a muslim woman too. We've had so many Geraldine Brookses that a Shahnaz Khan is a huge relief. The writer examines several Canadian muslim immigrant women's identities (interviews) using the notion of "third space" because Muslim women do not fit into existing categories in North America. I recommend this book.
