I used these in my cookbooks for all of my frequently used recipes, writing notes on the tabs themselves for my hints/additions to recipes and replacing all the old and frayed post it notes I already had. Because they are plastic I think they will hold up over time, but I worry about the stickiness of the note itself. These may degrade to just being bookmarks for my pages, while still good, may not be exactly what I want.

Besides my cookbooks though, I was at a loss of what to use these for. There are not many items that I have that I have a need for a "permanent" stickynote, perhaps photo albums or craft notebooks but I don't have too many of those. Overall I thought the product was good for what I used it for but not a "must have" staple in office supplies.

I love office products so I thought I would try them when they came up on the vine program. I take a lot of notes on books I read and they seemed like they might work great. On a few occasions now I have tried to incorporate them into my note-taking process and I can't for the life of me figure out how they're meant to be used. There are perforations in several spots, so I assume they are meant to be separated and placed around the book, but why? They can't easily be used to write on top of a sentence because they are too narrow. They are also thicker than a post it, so they seem really bulky on a page of a book. I thought the tabs might be useful, but again the bulkiness is a huge factor for using them. Maybe they need to come with an instruction manual for those of us that don't see their usefulness.

This product is going to come in very handy for me. I love to cook and I have lots of cookbooks. I tend to make notes regarding how a recipe turned out and if I want to make any changes the next time I try that same recipe. One of my favorite cookbooks is 9 x 13: The Pan That Can (Better Homes & Gardens Cooking). I have so many bent and ragged sticky notes fluttering along the edges of those pages that it looks as if the book is about to fly away. But, the problem is, I have no idea which recipe is being flagged by the sticky. One of the shortcomings of this cookbook is that it lacks index tabs of any sort. I took one of the Note Tab sheets, tore the tab portion off at the perforation, wrote the recipe name on it, then separated the other three perforated sections and placed them on the page with the recipe. Eureka! It works beautifully. The package said that the sheets are repositionable so I tried taking off a portion and it worked just fine. I used a Sharpie fine point pen to write with and the ink stayed on the Note Tab even when I purposefully rubbed my finger across it. This package contained 6 blue and 6 green Note Tabs, 3" x 7.5".

Now that I see how useful these Note Tabs can be, I plan to try other colors and sizes in this cookbook project of mine. The tabs feel very sturdy and durable, the note section allows me to read any portion of the recipe under the note and I like that I can separate the note into 4 different pieces. I'll probably come up with a code where a particular color represents a specific type of recipe. What a great find these Note Tabs were.

I am a professional student (a PhD student), so I do a lot of reading and note-taking. However, I really don't like writing on my books as I am planning to keep some of them for a long, long time. For me, these NoteTabs are a combination of a couple of great products. They serve as semi-transparent post-its that I can write on while I can still read the text I am commenting on. They also serve as tabs for bookmarking some pages or keeping the track of footnotes and references. I love them! Even if NoteTabs is not a completely novel product, I do think that they are a great improvement when all the note-taking/bookmarking products on the market are considered.

Some other reviewers have had issues with the stickiness of the glue on these tabs, so I decided to do an experiment. I put tabs on four types of books - a Better Homes and Garden's cookbook from 1981 (paperback, yellowed and wood-chippy paper), a copy of the Moosewood Cookbook from 1977 (oversized paperback, thick textured paper), a copy of the Joy of Cooking from 1997 (hardback, smooth rag paper), and a recent issue of Cook's Illustrated (very smooth and glossy magazine paper). I stacked them under a heaver book, to recreate conditions in a crowded bookcase.

When I tried to reposition the tabs immediately after applying them, the tab on the BH&G paperback lost quite a bit of its tack, and had clearly picked up some of the surface of the paper itself. None of the others had any problem.

After one week:

- The BH&G paperback tab is repositionable, but the tab has picked up small bits of ink from the text, and has clearly lost some stick.

- The Moosewood tab can be carefully peeled off, with no issues.

- The Joy tab can be carefully peeled off, with no issues (though it does seem to have some static cling for the page)

- The Cooks's tab can be easily peeled off, with no issues.

I'll continue the experiment, but it looks like the action of the tab depends on the age and quality of the paper it's stuck to, and perhaps also on the printing process by which the ink was applied.
