These are fantastic! They come apart easily and perfectly with absolutely clean edges. I tried to save some money by buying Staples Inkjet Business Cards, gloss white, heavyweight, item# 610383. Don't waste your money. They print well, but tear apart poorly. They leave rough, fuzzy edges. Get the real thing from Avery. I'm sorry I didn't.

I tried cheap business cards that were difficult to setup and use. These Avery cards work very well, worth the price in terms of quality, time saving and minimizing wasted cards. Download a free copy of Avery's DesignPro software from their website, it makes the whole process easy. I tried Avery's add-on for MS Word, ended up uninstalling it as it was difficult to configure & use, resulted in mis alignment of the printed cards.

Pros:* Absolutely no jagged edge. * Easy perf. * Professsional look. Cons: * You cant print anything on the back side (it smears). Would rate it 5star other than the back - so if you have single sided this is an awesome printable business card, probably #1.

I have printed a ton of address labels on my computer so I wanted to print my own business cards, too. This was my first (home made) business card purchase and because of the other reviews, I tried this particular one. It took a little trial and error to get the correct font and size of graphic that looked good and fit the card. But for the actual end result, I have no complaints. The cards snapped off very easily and all of them have a very clean edge. You just have to bend the page the way the instructions tell you to. The weight is nice too...not flimsy at all like some cards I've seen. I'd surely feel confident handing this card to anyone.

From a former printer - I was in the business for over 15 years - I have to say this stock produces the best, most professional home cards you can make if you only need a few hundred and want a custom job. The one draw back is the inablity to print on the reverse side (that is the reason I only give it 4 stars instead of 5)- if you only want one sided professional looking cards this is the stock to use.

Hmmm...I hate to be the dissenting voice here, but I found using these cards very frustrating. The idea of creating your own business cards is very appealing. I like to dabble in Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, and Corel Painter. As an "art project" I wanted to create a business card for my friend's Therapy Dog. The design was cute and minimal - a tiny picture of the dog and four words; getting it to a finished product was maddening. First, 8879 is one of the more expensive Avery business card stocks. It has a nice glossy surface and picks up and holds the ink very well. The printout looks good. The major problem is getting the templates to align correctly when printing. If you do a quick browser search you'll see this is a fairly common complaint. I'm using MS XP and Windows 2007. There are templates available through Windows but, unless you want to use the generic background and replace the words only, they were difficult to work with. So, I moved on to Avery's own website for templates. There are three offerings: 1) a tool you can download that becomes part of your Windows tool bar, 2) a wizard that lets you create the card on Avery's site, and 3) a downloadable program called "DesignPro" (which doesn't include an 8879 template as of this review). I tried all three. The best results came from Avery's online wizard. If the card isn't aligning properly, it gives you the option of changing the border spacing. However, using two different HP printers I discovered the printer overrides the margin corrections made through the Avery site. Even when the margins appeared to be fine on a plain paper draft, it didn't quite work on the card stock. Ultimately, I adjusted the design on the template to push it down to a point where it appeared to be almost off the card - then it lined up better when printing on the actual card pages. The clean edge cut works by bending the card (in the correct direction, toward the printed side of the border). Most of the time it works like a champ, but sometimes the card has a bit of ragged plastic film from the treatment of the glossy side. You can trim the excess plastic off one card, but the card or cards that lost their bit of plastic film become trash. With the alignment problems, I probably wasted at least one entire ink cartridge on plain paper test runs alone. Maybe 1 in 4 cards turned out to be useable; meaning 75 percent of the card stock was burned. This can quickly turn into a VERY expensive project. For me it was just a hobby project, but if you're trying to end up with cards for your business - you know where "time is money" and "first impressions count," you'll probably save time, money, and hours of frustration by just using a professional printer.

M. Louis took the words right out of my mouth. I bought a pack of the Avery 8879 cards (heavy weight white glossy) at Staples to make business cards. They turned out perfect on my HP Photosmart 7350 printer. The color and alignment was perfect. When I tore them apart from the sheet they popped off cleanly. Easy and very efficient way of removing them. Like M. Louis I thought I'd save about 9 bucks and buy the Staples version; DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! The cards felt much more flimsy in the hand, two of the cards tore when I was trying to pull them apart from the sheet. It took a huge effort compared to the Avery ones to pull them apart, and the edges WE'RE NOT CLEAN. They had rough noticeable edges after pulling them apart. I will never buy the Staples version again. If you don't want a professional looking and feeling card, get the Staples version. Otherwise you get what you pay for. I took my almost unused package of cards back to Staples and decided to order 5 packs of the Avery 8879 from Amazon instead.

Prints really nice on my Canon Pro 9900 printer, which normally doesn't do well on non-Canon papers. The sheets tend to stick together and the printer feeds several pages at the same time, so I just feed single sheets and it works perfectly.

Avery White Glossy Business Cards,
This review is from: Avery Clean Edge Business Cards for Inkjet Printers, Glossy, White, Pack of 200 (08879) (Office Product)
Wonderful product! I had used a similar version from another manufacturer, and these cards from Avery proved to be much easier to use and the outcome looks very professional. Only print one sheet at a time as it is so glossy that it may "squeak" while printing. The tabs fall off perfectly leaving no rough edges.
