If you use Microsoft Publisher to make cards, be aware: the standard template for business cards doesn't include this particular arrangement. The ten-card-per-sheet preloaded template doesn't reconcile with the eight-card-per-sheet perforations on this cardstock. A search of Microsoft Office found exactly one template for Avery 5881: place cards. PLACE cards, not BUSINESS cards. I figured that wouldn't matter much, since Avery has design templates accessible on their website. After a little fumbling with trying to make the online software work (its image editing is very fat-fingered), I finally designed a card I thought looked decent, and sent it to my printer.
Okay, remember, I used Avery's 5881 design layout for Avery's 5881 cards. So why, tell me why, did all eight cards come through out of alignment with the perforations? When I first noticed this, I thought maybe I'd loaded the cardstock into the printer incorrectly. But they're not misaligned the same way; those on one side of the page cut off the tops of the cards, those on the other cut off the bottoms. At the top of the sheet, the cards spill off the left side of the perforations; at the bottom, they spill off the right. The entire template offered by the manufacturer is misaligned. So my software doesn't work, and neither does theirs.Read more ›
You can print on the front and back, but the coating is different between them. If you're going to print front and back, I would suggest that whatever art / info is more important, use the front to print.
I used these to print music download cards. For the front, I had the album art work. On the back, just text (URL of where to download the music). I tested the art work on the back of the card and it didn't look as nice.
I've got a paper cutter and instead of trying to deal with perforations, will use that. Whether it be folds or perforations, it I haven't found any paper products that do well with them and Avery is no exception. I definitely like these cards and would certainly recommend them to anyone who needs a small amount of cards.
On the Avery site there are many, many templates that can be customized. I spotted many different templates for an assortment of items so there’s bound to be something out there for everyone. The templates can be downloaded in Microsoft Word, but if you don’t have it there is a freeware version out there. If you are going in with Firefox, you’ll have to make sure you allow popups on the site. I was able to check out some really nice designs I might consider using.

These cards measure 2 inches tall by 3 1/2 inches wide. Designing your cards is very simple. You go to the Avery website and enter the product number on the front of this package. Then you can pic from a template is you want that will add graphics and then you can add your text / details to the design. Once you are finished with your design then you are ready to start printing them off. I would be sure to turn your printer for it's best print quality setting.
Overall you should get pretty good results from this business card kit. It's also a fairly inexpensive way to print a somewhat small amount of business cards. They look fairly professional as well so I am pretty happy with them.
