Book Description

0721654460 978-0721654461 January 15, 1997 1
Focusing on the clinical disorders and treatment of the diseases of birds, this text serves as a practical guide to therapy. Although the major portion of the book is directed toward psittacine species, there are sections on passerine, columbiaformes, raptors, ratites, toucans, myna, and wildlife. While clinically oriented, the text contains strong sections on core topics such as anatomy, physiology, and nutrition, and a tabulated section on pharmacology and therapeutics is included for rapid reference.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Reference, March 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Avian Medicine and Surgery, 1e (Hardcover)
This is a very thorough book, although Rupley's manual of avian practice is a more practical and up to date reference for the clinician. Altman's book is a little vague in the pathology and sometimes too general for a book that should be an all-encompassing reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding for Bird Owners, May 24, 1998
This review is from: Avian Medicine and Surgery, 1e (Hardcover)
This book is outstanding for bird owners who desire to know more about their pets. This book is quite technical in nature, and needs a person who knows a little about anatomy and physiology in order to get the most out of this book. For me, the investment of the high price was worth it.
