This surprisingly dense graphic novel is darkly funny and a joy to read. It leaves you feeling a little confused, but I think that's the point.

Sometimes people ask me, "what's the best thing that you have read lately?" The Aviary will be my answer for the foreseeable future. It will take multiple reads to digest and process the themes and observations that Tanner has woven into this immensely enjoyable book (the best I can do right now is to tell you to imagine a Monty Python show dedicated to loss and longing), but for now, just go get your hands on a copy and enjoy. Once you've done that, you'll be like me - vigilantly looking out for whatever Tanner does next.

Funny, twisted, intelligent, creepy, unsettling, THE AVIARY is a singular vision. This book leaves me open-mouthed in awe. Thanks a lot, Tanner. You've made me a mouth-breather.

albiet i am not a connoisseur of the graphic novels, i thoughoroughly enjoyed this book. the cinematic nature of the stories which all, seemingly independent, weave a very interesting tale. a reader can appreciate both the wit and skill that went into this novel. after finishing it, one wants little more than to start the journey again at the beginning, and, each time the reader does treat themself to that, they will find something different (trust me, i read it three times).

overall, i loved this book!
