Even though I've watched many documentaries on the subject, I have to say this DVD set expanded my knowledge tremendously. It incudes videos I've never seen before. This is a great collection of aviation history and it will be of interest to any history buff looking to add to their collection. Having seen the entire footage I can say that I'm very pleased with my purchase, it was totally worth taking the time to watch it.

I bought this as a gift for my younger brother and we've spent hours watching and re-watching the series. He's an aviation nut and has absolutely loved it. The pack has great information all around and tons of footage for the enthusiast to drool over. The aviation history films were very interesting and the WWII section was amazing. I couldn't have found a better birthday present and I've enjoyed it right along with him. Worth every penny spent.

Being an avid fan of flight, I purchased the series expecting footage and documentary type reviews of historic flights of note. The Wright Brothers, fighter planes, jets, stealth aircrafts and Spaceplanes - it's all here, documented in an educational and informative way. I was very pleased with what I purchased.

I received this DVD set for my birthday because I am a huge aviation buff. I loved this set! Not only was it very informative, but it was so great seeing all the footage of the planes in flight. I loved the test flight of the Wright brothers as well as seeing the Blue Angels in action. This set had an even amount of content for all the history eras. I don't think I will need to buy another DVD set on aviation again because everything I need to know is in this set. Awesome!!

I have a friend (calls himself Bulldog) who claims to be a time traveler from an alternate universe. He reassures me that he fought through and survived the Second World War with 43 kills over Germany and Nazi-occupied France. He says that his initial flight aboard a B-17 was a harrowing experience involving heavy ground-to-air and air-to-air combat. After years of enduring this, I finally bought Aviation: A Filmed History to discover the truth. I know now that a bomber's maiden voyage over Nazi-occupied Europe was a cakewalk compared to the later flights it was forced to endure. He also insists he hijacked a Bachem BA-349 Natter and landed it at an allied airbase in southern England. The event somehow convinced the High Command to open another front against the Nazis after Churchill's plan to launch an invasion through the Balkans was approved by Stalin and Roosevelt.
The more he talked, the more I used this series to research his claims and systematically dismiss them. I know that my friend couldn't land a Bachem BA-349 even if he wanted to. It had no landing gear and was designed to eject the pilot and the engine following a flight. He couldn't have brought down a BF-109 using a stolen ME-262 equipped with missiles in early 1939 during the Polish campaign. The ME-262 entered service in 1944, five years after the Polish campaign. Its missiles were designed to bring down lumbering bombers rather than agile fighters.
After a heated Memorial Day argument involving Bulldog and my father about Bulldog's alleged role in the Battle of Midway, I forced Bulldog to sit through a marathon run of this 24-part series by tying him to my couch. Although he was clearly not happy with having his alleged existence disputed, Bulldog was a huge fan of the series long before first part was over.

Authentic plane footage is fairly difficult to come across, so I was very pleased with this product. This is probably the most expansive collection of aviation-based video you can find anywhere. Though my main interest is war planes, this collection offers that and more. I recommend this product for any enthusiast.
