Good no matter which way you look at it, and certainly worth hunting down.
Glen Zimmerman
Essential purchase for any self-respecting lover of AOR, melodic rock and quality 80's style rock, period.
TheManWhoKnewTooMuch
It has some great guitar work in particular, the songs are very catchy, and the vocals are strong.

Used to love this album and took the chance on it even though there were no reviews of this Aviator s/t (1979) CD yet...here's my opinion...this album had great sound on LP but unfortunately this CD was mastered from a source other than the master tapes...definitely vinyl as you can actually hear crackles and pops in the beginning of "Keep Your Heart Right" which is totally irritating ...result is a lifeless hollow sound much like a lot of the latter year Renaissance Records releases but with more surface noise...I've heard worst like Chilliwack "Break Down In Paradise"...but this is lame...in my case if I knew this was another bad vinyl master I would of passed on this CD and spent the $15 elsewhere...so another classic album...another sub par mastering job.

OK, it appears Amazon has the reviews for at least three different titles linked here – the ‘70s band Aviator, the ‘80s band Aviator, and the soundtrack to the Aviator movie. My review is for the ‘80s Aviator album.

Underrated American AOR band Aviator (not to be confused with the Aviator from the ‘70s) released their self-titled debut album in 1986. This band had an incredibly radio-friendly AOR sound, but perhaps missed the boat for that kind of sound by a couple of years. It’s easier to imagine this album tearing up the charts in 1984 before hair metal took over.

Mega-hit or not, the Aviator debut is a very strong melodic rock album. It has some great guitar work in particular, the songs are very catchy, and the vocals are strong. They remind me a bit of Adrenalin, and like a halfway point between Foreigner and Boulevard. Check out “Back on the Street,” “Wrong Place, Wrong Time” and “Through the Night” for an idea of the album’s overall sound.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call this a must-have release, but if you’re a serious fan of the ‘80s AOR and melodic rock bands, you really need to get your hands on the Aviator debut. It’s a definite winner for fans of Journey, Adrenaline, Boulevard, Aldo Nova, and Foreigner.

Edition Notes: Escape reissued the Aviator debut on CD in 1997. The reissue has been digitally remastered, which is a plus. It’s been out of print for a while now though. What we really need is a definitive version on the Rock Candy label.

Aviator, not to be confused with the same-named 70s group with Jack Lancaster, is a little-known band from the 80s that made this above-average album in 1986. Features the excellent guitar playing and strong, growly singing that should please Aerosmith fans, along with catchy hooks and background instrumentation that give it the pop sensibility that might please fans of artists like Journey or Huey Lewis. Good no matter which way you look at it, and certainly worth hunting down.

If not for more then a few shaddy record contracts Ernie White would probably be known by many as one of the best lead gutarist ever.If you like 70s Rock youll be suprised that most of the songs on this CD didnt make it to the radio play list.

This is the last group Mike Ricc (drummer) and Ritchie C were in together.Wish I could have seen them in concert together as they still sounded great!

Who is Ernie White?
Different band, the cover pic is the band with Ernie White, a solid AOR/Hard Rock release. All the other info pertains to the prog/rock album you mention above.
