This bookcase was very easy to assemble and is very sturdy. It has a really nice finish. It comes with a backboard as shown in the picture, but I decided to leave it off and let the wall color show through. Target.com put it on sale for 25% off two days after I purchased 2 of them, but neither Target or Amazon would refund the difference... a bummer, but the bookcases are very much worth the full price. I'm happy!

Attractive bookshelves despite name,

I can't imagine how the manufacturing firm of this product thought identifying the color as "dark tobacco" would encourage people to buy it but, in fact, the color is very attractive. I think it may be similar to a dark walnut in color. The grain on the wood is pleasing and it gives the appearance of being made of solid wood. It is sturdy and stable. I found the assembly instructions easy to follow and had no problems putting it together. I bought some Closet Maid fabric drawers of various bright colors. Three of these fit very nicely onto one shelf so that you have a total of six separate storage containers for the unit. The dark wood and the bright colors look very attractive together. I put this unit in my entry hall and it makes the area very neat and organized.
