I definitely recommend this product for anyone looking for new ways to feed their caffeine addiction.
I am glad to find this product. I get migraines and sometimes caffeine helps. But frequently coffee will upset my stomach when I'm in the middle of one of the darned things. I'm able to drink the avitae water a lot easier without the stomach upset but still get the caffeine benefit.
And sometimes, I want (and need) water rather than coffee or tea.
I really like that the wasted calories of soda can be remedied with this product. Likewise, I appreciate that many of the chemicals and unhealthy additives of soda are also eliminated here. I highly recommend it to people who dislike coffee and tea but wish to drink a healthier product.
If thats what you're looking for it works as advertised.
You will probably be taken by surprise in terms of how much caffeine is in it - I had someone stop by my office for an hourlong meeting and he drank a whole bottle, he was completely wired.
I usually just keep a single bottle on my desk for sipping throughout the day.
I have two jobs and on the way to my second one, I drank the water. At first, I really didn't notice a difference. Within twenty minutes I started feeling a little more alive. I don't like feeling my heart pounding in my chest like I get with some energy drinks. Avitae hydrates without all the hype and has no calories, carbonation or flavorings, no dyes or artificial ingredients. With 90mg of natural caffeine, it's a little less than a regular cup of Starbucks (260mg).
I'm not always in the mood for tea and like the idea of getting a caffeine lift from water, especially with summer right around the corner and this answers that problem for me. I will recommend it to my friends and co-workers. Try it, you might be pleasantly surprised.
But there are other times when my rear end is dragging... or I am lacking sleep or have other things like allergies that make me drag. I didn't think a product like this would really be for me, but I'll be honest. The taste is basically nothing, with a very very small bitters sensation in the far back edges of the tongue-- you can feel it but can't really taste it.
Served cold, it tastes basically like mineral water.
As far as the caffeine goes, I'll have to report back on that in a few hours ;)
But my key question was, what does it mean that it has natural caffeine? And is there a difference?
In one sense, the two are structurally identical. However, since synthetic caffeine is purer, it is absorbed faster and gives a faster "jolt." but it also, in the pure form allows a faster letdown.
Normally, you get natural caffeine when drinking coffee or tea, or consume many other forms of caffeinated products, including my personal favorite, chocolate.
So where does the natural caffeine in water come from? Actually, according to their web site, it comes mainly from coffee beans. Companies that sell decafeinated coffee or tea have to process it to remove the caffeine. The caffeine that is extracted is sold to companies who want to add caffeine to their products. This includes soda companies who gain a majority of their caffeine from this process.
So the caffeine you are drinking here is taken out of the same beans you use to make your morning coffee. If you would like to skip the middleman, and enjoy the taste of coffee, you can just brew a fresh cup, even have an iced cup.
I have given this five stars because it is exactly what it says it is, and because it tasted exactly like water to me. It also comes in a recyclable bottle with no BPA. Would I buy it? Probably not at the current price point. I'll stick with other sources of caffeine that come in a washable mug, no recycling needed. :-)
