5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Money Saver, September 1, 2006

This review is from: Avtunerplus Watch Live Tv/video On Any Computer Monitor LCD Plasma (Personal Computers)
The idea here is to be able to recycle an old computer monitor, either a CRT or an LCD. The Avtunerplus Watch Live does the job and does it quite well as far as my experience goes.

I had a new 17" LCD monitor that I tried to sell on eBay, since a week after I bought it I decided I needed a 19" ...go figure. Since eBay has turned into freeBay these days, I decided to keep the monitor. Then, I ran across this nifty device and I thought.."Hey, $55.00 bucks, and I can use any monitor I ever own as a TV...not only that, but since a good 17" LCD sells for under a buck fifty commonly, instant 17" LCD TV for under 2 bills.." You can't touch a 17" Flat Panel TV for that money. Not to mention the fact that if 19" and 20" LCD's keep dropping, I could UPGRADE.. UMMMM...UPGRADE..!!

Suffice to say, the AVTunerPlus did the job. Instructions are a bit iffy, but anyone with half a brain can figure it out...eventually. Tunes my Cable in up to channel 100, which is all the cable company will allow without their "special" box. Gives me full remote control, adjusts the picture, volume control...it's a great device. From 3-4 feet away, the monitor is as clear as a bell. I like it. Uncle Willie

4.0 out of 5 stars A little pricey but worth it...., March 11, 2007

After trying another brand of LCD TV tuner (and having nothing but trouble) this unit was a welcome change. Gets a nice, clear signal from my cable and the remote is fairly sturdy compared to some of the cheaper models. My only complaints are two: there is no way to adjust the sound output (the bass on my speaker set is way too high) and it shows the Avermedia logo whenever you change the channel. The second complaint is more of an annoyance than anything. I like the PIP feature, and you can change the sound output from TV to PC very easily, making it more useful. Overall, due to the sound issue (which might be more my speaker set), I give it 4/5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works like it oughta....can't beat the price., February 21, 2007

When you take this out of the box you're thinkin', "No way, this ain't gonna work." As Gomer Pyle used to say, "Surprise, surprise, surprise!!" Hooked it up, turned it on.....worked like champ. I'm watchin' TV on my 19" Gateway LCD Flatscreen computer monitor like it was a 52" plasma. And best of all I don't have to mess with that MY TV garbage Microsoft has in its Media Center software bundle. Only criticism is sparse documentation.
