5.0 out of 5 stars Precious metals
A celebration of brass, steel strings and the simple waltz for the 1st half of this high quality lo-fi album. The 2nd half transports you to an entirely different zone where a droning pump organ and 9 person choir massage your weary brain.

Matthew Houck delivers a Fantasy-Folk masterwork deserving widespread attention which, of course, it will never get. The...

3.0 out of 5 stars first listen of this band
Piano, breaking voices, horns, strings, very Syd Barrettesque vocals. pretty interesting. listen to the demo tracks, well worth your troubles. It's not Sgt. Pepper but it is at least as good as side 4 of the white album.

Matthew Houck delivers a Fantasy-Folk masterwork deserving widespread attention which, of course, it will never get. The record comes off as a joyous day-light party followed by a lonely, come-down midnight. As one of many perfect details, Houck saves his only straight-up Folk song ("Endless") for the closer of the LP, and it is a gem and a half.

This album has found a way into my heart this it's noodly pick work on the guitar (folkish) and different sounds throughout the album. Starting off the album with a song called "I am not a heel" you just move through this cd and each song finds itself somewhere within your noggin. I want to say you've got an element of Devendra Banhart here....but this guy, in my estimation is a far greater talent, which says something. Soft, reflective and interesting music done well.
