Book Description

Fated Saga, Book One, Awaken- Mind reading teens, Meghan and Colin Jacoby, help a young man whose family is forced to flee through a magical portal to another world, without him.

Meghan and Colin Jacoby are looking forward to a typical summer, which means their uncle (and guardian) will pull into the Cobbscott Campground just off the coast of Maine and park his travel trailer for three full months.

Normally, they’d never spend more than a couple weeks in any one place, their uncle preferring to stay on the move. Why did he do this? The twins have never thought to ask.

Their only concern being that their friend Sebastien will be in Cobbscott as well... the one person who also happens to know their secret- that the twins are telepathic. Something they’ve never even told their uncle.

Within hours of arrival, Meghan and Colin are making plans to meet up with Sebastien, but before they can, unexpected guests arrive. Guests with reserved campsites… reserved, but unused for years. And even more curious is that within hours, it is clear that these new visitors did not come alone! Something else has followed them. Something with an eerie shadow that flies across the tree tops screeching out a warning that can have only one meaning: we know where you are…

Editorial Reviews

Review

  • "Wow. Just wow. This was a book I desperately wish existed when I was a young teen. Not only was it an amazingly well-written story, but it reminded me of other great fantasies I have read. Reminiscent of books like Something Wicked This Way Comes. The ending blew me away and left me wanting more. I can't wait to read the second book!"- A Girl and Her Kindle

  • "This enjoyable teen read mixes suspense and action with funny elements and serious parts.  I look forward to seeing where the series goes...in many senses of that word.  To know what I'm getting at, read the book." -The Paisley Reader

2.0 out of 5 stars None February 2, 2013

I appreciate that this book was written for a young audience, but that's no excuse for the juvenile style and grammatical errors. The story could be a good one, but it needs some decent editorial work.

3.0 out of 5 stars Creative, but falls short... December 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I felt like the entire book was a wind up to nothing. It's pretty clear where it's heading right from the introduction, but the book slogs along with petty, childish characters (I appreciate they are children, but it's sometimes hard to read) and right when the story revs up, it ends. I realize it's an effort to pull me into the next book, but when the first book was less than impressive it's a hard sale to make in the last 10 pages.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good--Writing needs work May 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Awaken is the first novel in the Fated Saga Fantasy series. I as I read the story I couldn't help thinking that this reads like a teenager's first novel, which comes as no surprise since the author is a teenager. That being said, this is still an interesting story.

The first chapter does draw you in immediately. The contemporary writing style makes this easy to read, unlike some fantasy books that try to hard to be the next Tolkien. And I am glad that though this story focuses on two teenagers, it is not at all similar to Harry Potter.

The story focuses on Meghan and Colin, two 13-year-olds who are telepathically linked and twins. They live with their uncle and are always on the move. While camping they meet a gypsy named Jae, whom I hope we learn more about, and they have a friend named Sebastian. While learning more about the world around them, Colin comes across a magic book. I love the magic book; it's a talking book with an attitude. As the title suggests, after Colin receives the book he and Meghan suddenly learn that they have magic powers. This, naturally, makes them a target for the bad guys.

I did enjoy the story and will be reading he second book. My only suggestion to the author is to show the scenes. Don't just tell the story. This will help the reader really feel as though they are in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awaken & The Fated Saga August 3, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Rachael D'Aigle is an amazing author. The first book Awaken and the second book The Fated Saga, I could not stop reading it. I found it very captivating with very believable. It had all the contents of a good story, intrigue, hidden meanings, magic with some mystery and adventure! I believe this book is good as the Harry Potters books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Didn't really rope me in February 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Awaken looked like a very intresting book when I read the summary. But reading it, I couldn't really get into it. The plot was a little all over the place and the back and forth conversation between characters left me confused. The author didn't seperate her character's point of view so I never really knew who was talking. While the interesting story line was there, the fact that it kept jumping around randomly made me want to read something else and not even bother. But I did finish it and despite all these negative points, it ended in an intresting way that made me want to buy the second book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beware March 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Fated Saga Series is a fun read except you need to beware that when you get into them and purchase the volumes of this, no where does it even hint that you will get to the end of the series... The stories just drop in mid air so to speak... with a comment to look forward to future books. After reading 5 novels and then for it to just stop mid stream. Just doesn't seem right that then you sign up for e-mails for future purchases to complete...eventually the series. Amazon is a great in fact super place to get e-books. Just feels like the author should say this is going to be a continuing series...
